Made in Korea, starring Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung, was confirmed for season 2 even before its release.
On the 13th, the 2025 Disney+ APAC and global content presentation took place at the Cinderella Ballroom in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Conference Center.
About 400 reporters from around the world attended the event, and a total of 14 countries participated, including Korea, Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Mexico and Brazil.
In particular, at today's event a new lineup of Korean original content was also announced, and director Woo Min-ho of the Made in Korea team attended along with actors Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung and Woo Do-hwan.
Made in Korea is a work that tells the story of Baek Gi-tae, who has ambitions for wealth and power, and prosecutor Jang Geon-young, who throws everything away to stop him, as they face a huge incident that spans the turbulent 1970s. Director Woo Min-ho directs, and the production company HYBE Media Corp., which thrilled 10 million viewers with the film 12.12: The Day, produces it.
In particular, Made in Korea is drawing attention with Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung as the two lead actors. In addition to them, it boasts a dazzling cast lineup including Yuan Jian, Seo Eun-su, Jo Yeo-jung and Jung Sung-il. At the Disney+ open house held in May, it was also cited as one of the tentpole series to be released in the second half of the year. It is already contracted from season 2 and is currently in production, and season 2 is scheduled to be released exclusively on Disney+ in the second half of the year.
Hyun Bin said the reason he joined the project was, "The strength of the script. A solid story was created by adding fiction to the actual 1970s background, and that became the biggest factor in doing this work," and Jung Woo-sung said, "It was actor Hyun Bin and actor Woo Do-hwan. Being able to act together in a new work as partners is a very precious and valuable opportunity among actors. I felt this would be a work with such great fellow actors. When the director offered me the role, I thought this character might not suit me. The character is a bit more energetic and bold. Reading the script, I felt there would be parts of Jang Geon-young that I could fill, so I mustered the courage to accept it."
Jung Woo-sung added, "In particular, this work places fictional characters and fictional stories within real incidents of modern history. Usually that would lead to a story about the relationship between the individual caught up in the incident and the situation, but our work is a story based on historical facts that has the distinctiveness of showing human desire and the inner self, so I think people will find it interesting."
Finally, when asked why people should watch Mainco, Jung Woo-sung briefly replied, "Because it's fun," and Hyun Bin joked, "Because I'm handsome?"
Meanwhile, Made in Korea will release two episodes on Christmas Eve, two episodes on New Year's Eve, and the remaining two episodes will be released sequentially on Jan. 7 and Jan. 14.
