The anticipated series Killer's Shopping Mall season 2 is coming.
On the 13th, the Cinderella Ballroom at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Conference Center hosted the Disney+ APAC and global content presentation for 2025.
More than 400 members of the press from around the world attended the event, with a total of 14 countries represented, including Korea, Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Mexico and Brazil.
Disney+ Originals Preview 2025, a two-day event held at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, provides an early look at APAC and global original content scheduled to be released on Disney+. The lineup introduced general entertainment including APAC originals from Korea and Japan, and top-tier stars and creative partners attended to offer Disney's distinctive experiences.
Notably, the event announced new Korean original content lineups, and Killer's Shopping Mall season 2 cast members Lee Dong-wook, Kim Hae-jun and director Lee Kwon attended.
Killer's Shopping Mall was released in 2024 and received high praise from domestic media for its unpredictable developments and thrilling, stylish action, with critics lauding the series for its solid, high-quality completion in story, acting, directing and action.
Regarding the success of season 1, Lee Dong-wook said, "I thought it would do fairly well, but I didn't expect this level. I'm happy and grateful that it did so well and that we're doing season 2." He added, "You can see that Jeong Jin's mystery continues into season 2. I think the action will be a bit bigger in scale and more intense than in season 1."
He continued, "Honestly, I felt more pressure (about season 2). Because season 1 received tremendous love, I wanted season 2 to receive comparable affection. The director wrote and directed, so I was worried. Creating a new story is a burden. I tried to support the director as much as possible. Anyway, because Jian has a lot more screen time, I tried to keep my mind at ease."
Kim Hae-jun said, "There were parts that weren't explained in season 1 and parts even I didn't know, so I was curious how they would be resolved. Along with that curiosity, I also felt pressure about how Jian should grow in season 2." He added, "I think season 2 will show full-scale firearm action."
They also discussed the possibility of season 3. Director Lee said, "To be honest, I don't know. I think it depends on how well season 2 does, and we'll have to think about it after that." Lee Dong-wook said, "We can't decide on our own and it's important what the Disney+ executives think. The biggest premise is the success of season 2. If that happens, there might be room to consider it."
The lineup of actors newly joining season 2 was also revealed. Hyunri, a Zainichi Korean actress who won the best newcomer actress award at the 29th Takasaki Film Festival and gained wide popularity in Korea through the series Pachinko and Ryusuke Hamaguchi's film Drive My Car, as well as through Japan's TBS drama Eye Love You and the U.S. HBO drama Tokyo Vice season 2, appears as "Q," the head of the Babylon East Asia branch mercenary team. Also joining is Masaki Okada, who received high praise for what was called the best performance of his career as Takasaki Koji in Drive My Car, which was nominated for the 94th Academy Awards; he joins as Jay, the co-leader of Babylon East Asia's mercenaries and Q's younger brother. Following them, Jung Yoon-ha, who has proven solid acting skills by appearing in Disney+'s original series Casino and the films Exhuma and Trunk and XO, Kitty, is set to appear as Kusanagi, the head of Babylon East Asia. With the expanded confrontation between Murder Help and Babylon in season 2, expectations are high for the presence these new Babylon mercenaries will bring.
Regarding this, director Lee previewed, "Season 1 took place over one day, and in season 2 an unseen entity called Babylon will be revealed. Japanese mercenaries sent by the global organization called Babylon will appear, siblings who are mercenaries. They are characters with past ties to Jin-man, and ironically, they come to capture Jin-man, leading to the events that unfold."
Disney+'s original series Killer's Shopping Mall season 2 is scheduled to be released in 2026.
