Comedian Park Mi-sun on "You Quiz on the Block" revealed the long and painful process of discovering breast cancer through a comprehensive checkup and fighting the disease.
The episode of tvN "You Quiz on the Block" that aired on the 12th featured Park Mi-sun, who returned in good health after a 10-month hiatus.
Park Mi-sun said her illness was discovered thanks to a comprehensive checkup. "The treatment period was long, but it was discovered in the comprehensive checkup," she said, explaining the situation at the time: "When I had a breast ultrasound in February they said it was fine, but in December I almost skipped it and then in a comprehensive checkup they found something unusual and breast cancer came up."
Immediately after the diagnosis, Park Mi-sun worried about her upcoming schedule. Park Mi-sun said, "The first thought I had was that I had an outdoor shoot scheduled, so I thought I should have surgery quickly, go to the shoot, and then have radiation therapy," showing a strong sense of responsibility toward her work.
The surgery took place on Christmas Eve. However, an unexpected fact was discovered during the surgery. Park Mi-sun said, "This is the first time I'm saying this, but when they opened me up (after surgery), it had spread to the lymph nodes," and for the first time confessed the shocking metastasis she experienced during her battle with the disease.
After surgery she began chemotherapy, but another crisis came. Park Mi-sun said, "When I had finished 4 out of 8 chemotherapy sessions, I developed pneumonia." She recounted the urgent situation at the time, saying, "They said pneumonia is very dangerous for cancer patients. It was serious enough that doctors and caregivers were busy using antibiotics and so on."
