A first anniversary has dawned for actor the late Song Jae-rim, whose death shocked and saddened many as cold winds blew in November.
The late Song Jae-rim suddenly passed away at the early age of 39 on Nov. 12, 2024.
The late Song Jae-rim debuted in 2009 with the film "Actresses." Standing over 180 cm with a handsome appearance, he became known to the public through the 2010 drama "The Great Queen Seondeok." And two years later, in 2012, he reached a turning point in his acting career when he appeared in MBC's "The Moon Embracing the Sun," which recorded a peak viewership rating of 42.2%.
In "The Moon Embracing the Sun," the late Song Jae-rim, who played a royal guard, left a strong impression with a taciturn but upright charm. After rising to stardom, the late Song Jae-rim appeared in works such as "Two Weeks" and "Birth of a God," and in 2013, on the variety show "We Got Married," he appeared as a virtual husband with actress Kim So-eun, showing a completely different side from his cold image in dramas and revealing a surprising charm.
Through various works such as "Bad Women," "Our Gap-soon," and "Clean With Passion for Now," the late Song Jae-rim steadily built his own filmography across romance, comedy and genre pieces, and his sudden death on Nov. 12 last year provoked deep regret. A friend who had arranged to have lunch with him visited his residence and found him dead, and a note was reportedly found at the scene.
Following the late Song Jae-rim's death, Park Ho-san, Hong Seok-cheon, Kim Min-kyo, Jang Sung-kyu, Taimi, Lee El, Lee Yoon-ji and Kim So-eun, among others, expressed their condolences. It was particularly distressing when it emerged that, before the shock had even subsided, the late actor had been subjected during his lifetime to indiscriminate invasions of privacy by an obsessive fan from Japan.
A year after the late Song Jae-rim's passing, his final works are also set to be released. One of his posthumous films, "Crash," opened in January, and on Dec. 3 the film "Far and Close" will be released. In "Far and Close," the late Song Jae-rim played two roles, Dong-seok and Dong-soo, two men who visit Junho (Park Ho-san)'s LP bar while searching for their lover.
The late Song Jae-rim debuted as a model, built a successful career as an actor, and won over the public with his friendly charm on variety shows. At the news of his death, the entertainment industry and fans fell into deep mourning, and on the day of his first anniversary many voices of remembrance for him continue to be heard.
