HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE is continuing its unstoppable rise, breaking its own best position on the U.S. Billboard main song chart, the Hot 100, once again.
According to the latest chart (Nov. 15) released by Billboard on Nov. 11 (local time), KATSEYE's second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS' track 'Gabriela' rose four spots from the previous week to reach No. 33 on the Hot 100.
Even though the song was released nearly five months ago, the reverse-crossover surge that has pushed its ranking up for four consecutive weeks continues. 'Gabriela' first entered the chart at No. 94 (July 5) and steadily gained popularity, then delivered remarkable results after its explosive performance at Lollapalooza Chicago in August.
On the pop airplay chart, which is based on radio airplay and listening data in the United States, 'Gabriela' placed at No. 14. This is also the group's highest position on that chart, two spots higher than the previous week. Strong results on this chart, one of the important factors for evaluating a song's popularity and mainstream appeal alongside digital sales and streaming, prove that KATSEYE is widely loved in the United States.
The second EP containing 'Gabriela,' 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS,' ranked No. 43 on the Billboard 200 main album chart. It has been on the chart for 19 consecutive weeks since it previously reached its peak at No. 4 (July 12). Based on physical album sales, 'Beautiful Chaos' also rose one spot from the previous week to rank No. 15 on top album sales and No. 13 on top current album sales, marking 19 consecutive weeks on those charts as well.
KATSEYE's strength is even more formidable on global charts that rank based on data aggregated from more than 200 countries and territories. 'Gabriela' rose three spots from the previous week to No. 20 on the Global 200, and remained at No. 15 on the Global (excluding U.S.) chart, marking 20 consecutive weeks in the upper ranks. Another track from the EP, 'Gnarly,' despite being released more than half a year ago, sits at No. 138 (Global 200) and No. 137 (Global excluding U.S.), marking 27 consecutive weeks on the charts.
Meanwhile, KATSEYE achieved the feat of being nominated in two categories — best new artist and best pop duo/group performance — at the 68th Grammy Awards, which will be held on Feb. 1 next year. Ahead of the ceremony, they will embark on their first solo North American tour, scheduled to begin on the 15th with 16 shows in 13 cities.
