The director of "The Fourth Love Revolution" wittily referred to the chaotic political situation during the production process.
On the morning of the 11th, at the Stanford Hotel Korea in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, the Wavve original "The Fourth Love Revolution" (screenplay by Song Hyun-ju · Kim Hong-gi and others from the creative collective "Songpyeon", directed by Yoon Seong-ho · Han In-mi) held a production press conference. Attending were the male and female leads, actors Kim Yo-han and Hwang Reum-byeol, and directors Yoon Seong-ho and Han In-mi, who directed the series, who attended and discussed the work under the moderation of broadcaster Park Seul-gi.
"The Fourth Love Revolution" depicts the story of Joo Yeon-san, a lifelong single computer engineering student, and Kang Min-hak (played by Kim Yo-han), a million-followers influencer, who become classmates after the illogical merger and abolition of departments. The two people, who operated on completely different systems, and their friends' error-filled team projects, and the chaotic romance are expected to awaken viewers' fluttering feelings.
This work raises expectations with joint direction by Yoon Seong-ho, known for sensuous direction in Wavve original "Now That We're Here, Going to the Blue House" and "Top Management," and the film "Galaxy Liberation Front," and Han In-mi, who led sensational buzz with the drama drama "The Trend Is Yubae" and the film "Everyone's Lover."
In particular, the production team of "Now That We're Here, Going to the Blue House," which opened a new horizon in Korean black comedy with ironic social satire, has reunited, drawing attention. In addition, the creative collective "Songpyeon," which includes spirited new writers such as Song Hyun-ju of the drama "Way Back Love" and Kim Hong-gi of the drama "The Story of Manager Kim Who Owns a House in Seoul and Works at a Large Company," participated in the screenplay, raising expectations.
Yoon Seong-ho, who leads the creative collective Songpyeon and serves as the main director, said of the work, "Absurd things happen. The computer engineering department and the model major are merged. Isn't it these days that absurd things happen at schools? It is a farce that unfolds over one semester between Kang Min-hak and Joo Yeon-san who meet because of that. There are many good campus romantic comedies, but while we bring a typical logline, we want to appeal that viewers will see many landscapes, situations, and happenings that have rarely been seen in Korean youth dramas."
Yoon Seong-ho also laughed and said, "We were working hard on the script when martial law broke out. Then we were quietly filming when impeachment happened. During postproduction, a presidential election happened and the president changed. So our release is the day after tomorrow and I don't know what will happen. Maybe something will happen in the United States," which sent the audience into laughter.
He continued, "So strangely, the forced merger of departments could be seen as violence at the foundation level. Then issues like the lack of school-age population at regional campuses, migrants, people with different gender identities, and even the mobility of people with disabilities on campus—people might ask if we were filming a documentary, but amid the chaos we end up fighting with the foundation in a very entertaining way. You've never seen an ending like this. It's not didactic or trying to teach anything. I think some of the atmosphere from filming is reflected."
"The Fourth Love Revolution" will be first released on Wavve at 11 a.m. on Thursday the 13th. In addition, it will be simultaneously released through major OTT platforms in 96 overseas countries including Japan, Hong Kong, China and Russia.
