Hollywood actress and singer Hilary Duff has been interpreted as targeting top actor Leonardo DiCaprio with her new song,
the Daily Mail reported on the 11th (local time), "Duff's recently released new single 'Mature' drew attention for lyrics themed on 'men who only date younger women,' and fans analyzed that several passages in the song are directly aimed at DiCaprio."
In the song Duff sings, "She's me, a version written in a different font / Just a few years younger / Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch," and DiCaprio is indeed a Scorpio, and he is famous for dating models under 25 even now at age 51.
In another verse she sings, "Bet she's so impressed by your Basquiat / And she thinks you're deep in the ways you're not," which ties into the fact that DiCaprio owns a $9 million Basquiat piece that he once received as a gift from billionaire Jho Low.
There is also a line, "I hid my car on Carbon Beach, didn't want to get caught," which has been interpreted as touching his real life because the Malibu dwelling he purchased in 1998 is located on Carbon Beach.
Fans see the song as satirically pointing out DiCaprio's pattern of "age-gap dating." He previously dated Gisele Bündchen, Bar Refaeli and Camila Morrone, and he is known for most relationships ending just before the partner turned 25.
Hilary Duff was also once noted for an age-gap relationship. At 16 she dated Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, who was 25 at the time.
Duff said of the new song, "It was inspired by a short experience from a long time ago," adding, "It's not completely autobiographical, but I wanted to honestly express the feelings I had then." She added, "Looking back on that relationship, I wondered whether I was special or just one of that person's patterns."
The new song "Mature" combines a catchy pop-rock melody with a humorous yet blunt take on the socially heated issue of "age-gap dating," creating a stir.
