Singer HyunA suddenly collapsed during a performance, drawing renewed attention to the fact that she previously halted activities due to vasovagal syncope (Vasovagal Syncope).
HyunA performed at the Waterbomb 2025 Macau, held on the outdoor performance venue in Macau on the 9th, showcasing hit songs including "Bubble Pop." However, during the concert she complained of dizziness, lost her balance and collapsed on the stage.
At the time HyunA appeared to lose strength and slowly fell, and the dancers who were performing with her rushed over to check her condition and protect her. A security guard went up on stage, carried HyunA and escorted her off, a scene that left the audience shocked and worried.
Later, HyunA posted on social media, "I'm really, really sorry. I wanted to show a good side but I don't think I was professional. Actually I don't remember anything either, so I kept thinking about it and wanted to be sure to talk about it," and added, "I will build up my stamina more and continue to work hard."
HyunA was diagnosed with vasovagal syncope in 2020 and temporarily suspended activities. This condition causes a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate due to stress, fatigue, extreme weight loss, dehydration and other factors, reducing blood flow to the brain and causing a brief loss of consciousness. Extreme tension, overwork or rapid weight changes are known to be major triggers.
Last year HyunA confessed she had undergone extreme dieting, saying, "I wanted a pretty body because I wanted to perform well on stage, but I kept collapsing on stage. I collapsed 12 times in a month."
Recently HyunA said she lost about 10kg in a month. HyunA posted a photo on her personal account showing a scale reading 49kg and wrote, "It's really hard to change the leading digit from the 50s — still far off. How much have I been eating all this time, Kim HyunA HyunA!!!"
Having succeeded in losing more than 10kg, HyunA did not stop there and, firing up her dieting will, prepared to appear at the Macau Waterbomb.
Netizens sent messages of support such as "Health comes first," "If you lose your health you lose everything," and "Fans care more about HyunA's safety than the stage."
Meanwhile, HyunA married singer Yong Junhyung last year.
