'My Little Old Boy' Choi Soo-jong revealed why he and his wife do not have marital fights.
On the 9th broadcast of the SBS variety show 'My Little Old Boy' (hereinafter 'Mioo-sae'), Choi Jin-hyuk envied the '33-year married' loving couple Choi Soo-jong and Ha Hee-ra.
That day Choi Soo-jong helped Park Kyung-rim and Choi Jin-hyuk make kimchi. To make up for the lacking flavor, he began slicing radish, and Choi Jin-hyuk asked, "I heard your sister-in-law cut her finger so you started cutting with the knife?"
Choi Soo-jong said, "Ha Hee-ra cut her hand while cutting with a knife. She cut her finger. So from then until now I do all the knife work. I absolutely do it. When cooking," revealing his unwavering devotion and drawing admiration.
In particular, Choi Soo-jong attracted attention by saying that even after 33 years of marriage he has never once had a marital fight with Ha Hee-ra.
Choi Soo-jong said, "When there is a problem with housework, there is a sort of tension each person feels. I go to my study. Ha Hee-ra does Ha Hee-ra's work. If you do it, what was it? It works. We completely avoid things that would lead to fighting. That's the method," offering a helpful tip.
Even more, Choi Soo-jong, who has one son and one daughter, said he uses honorifics with his children. He said, "From when they were little until now I have never once said 'ya' like that."
Hearing this, Choi Jin-hyuk said, "My mother would be surprised. My mother uses that kind of swearing a lot," and Choi Soo-jong and Park Kyung-rim scolded, "How could she be that way?" which made everyone laugh.
Choi Soo-jong was a gentle father who embraced and comforted his children instead of scolding them. He recalled, "When Ha Hee-ra asked me during our eldest's adolescence, 'I really can't do this today. Can you scold him?' the moment I entered the room and looked at my son's eyes I felt like tears would fall from mine."
He continued, "So I just held him. When I asked, 'Do you know a mother's feelings for Choi Min-seo?' my son said, 'Yes.' 'Then that's fine,' I patted him and when tears fell I immediately left the room."
Then Park Kyung-rim asked, "Won't your son and daughter be getting married soon? How do you feel?" Choi Soo-jong said, "If my son and daughter get married I am learning the saxophone to play a celebratory song at the wedding. But Ha Hee-ra said, 'Don't learn the saxophone,'" he said.
He added, "I was practicing hard and asked why she said that, and she said, 'If you play the saxophone you'll start crying and hit the wrong notes, so why do it?'" which drew laughter.
Park Kyung-rim asked, "If your daughter brought a boyfriend you don't like, what would you do? But what if you like him very much?" After thinking for a long time, Choi Soo-jong confessed, "If my daughter brought someone, I think I'd leave it to Ha Hee-ra and later hear about it. I would find it hard to accept the situation."
