Singer Seong Si-kyung will appear before the public for the first time since being embroiled in controversy over a manager's betrayal.
Seong Si-kyung is scheduled to take the stage at the 2025 Incheon Airport Sky Festival, held today (9th) at Inspire Resort in Incheon.
The "Sky Festival" is a festival that began in 2004 and has established itself as the world's only airport complex cultural festival. The festival is being held over two days, on the 8th and today.
Idol singers including Highlight, NCT Mark, All Day Project, Risenne, (G)I-dle member Miyeon, as well as solo musicians such as Crush and Heize, are on the Sky Festival lineup. Among them, Seong Si-kyung will meet the audience as a major act on the second day, which is the festival's final day.
Originally, the organizers sold out festival tickets early by promoting such a dazzling lineup. However, there were unclear responses about whether Seong Si-kyung would appear. The aftermath is reportedly that Seong Si-kyung suffered damage after being betrayed by a manager with whom he had worked for nearly 20 years.
In fact, on the 3rd, Seong Si-kyung's side said in an official statement that "it was confirmed that the former manager committed acts that betrayed the company's trust during the course of duties while employed. Our company recognized the seriousness of the matter as a result of an internal investigation and is checking the exact scope of the damage. The employee in question has now left the company. Our company deeply reflects on its management and supervisory responsibilities and is reorganizing its internal management system to prevent recurrence of the same case."
Accordingly, Seong Si-kyung also confessed on his personal social media, "To be honest, the past few months have been truly tormenting and a continuous time that's been hard to endure for me. Experiencing the breaking of trust from someone I trusted, cared for and thought of as family isn't the first time in my 25-year career, but even at this age it isn't an easy thing." He added, "I didn't want to worry people or fall apart, so I tried to maintain my daily life and pretended to be okay, but while doing YouTube and scheduled performances I felt that my body, mind and voice have been greatly damaged."
As a result, even the announcement of Seong Si-kyung's year-end solo concert was delayed. Regarding this, Seong Si-kyung said, "Honestly, I kept asking myself whether I could really stand on stage or whether I should. I want to be in a state where I can confidently say I am okay mentally and physically," showing a cautious stance.
Nevertheless, he will take the Sky Festival stage. In this regard, Seong Si-kyung's side told OSEN on the 6th, "Seong Si-kyung will appear at the Sky Festival to fulfill the promised schedule."
