Broadcaster Jung Joon-ha was embroiled in a restaurant 'overcharging controversy.'
On the 8th episode of MBC Hangout With Yoo, a preliminary meeting for the 'Meeting of unpopular people (Insa-mo)' was held.
That day Jung Joon-ha, seeing Heo Sung-tae who was invited to Insa-mo, said, "By the way, it's been a while since I saw Sung-tae. We first did variety shows together back in the day," recounting their connection.
In response, Heo Sung-tae said, "Back then, I didn't get paid. Joon-ha hyung suggested it and we did the first variety show together, but the appearance fee disappeared," which surprised everyone. Heo Kyung-hwan said, "I thought Joon-ha hyung was the one who didn't pay," and Jung Joon-ha also flustered, saying, "If you put it that way, it sounds like I skimmed the pay."
Heo Sung-tae confessed, "I did it because Joon-ha hyung asked me to, but I didn't get paid. I trusted Joon-ha and did it, but I couldn't get the money," and Jung Joon-ha retorted, "You say you trusted me and did the program, but I first met you on that program," However, Heo Sung-tae explained, "I saw the list and did it because senior Jung Joon-ha was on it."
Afterwards, the announcement of popularity rankings based on a survey followed. Among them Jung Joon-ha ranked fourth, placing in the middle, and one survey participant candidly answered that Jung Joon-ha's appeal for gaining fans was, "Because he doesn't have many fans, he might remember me," drawing laughter.
Yoo Jae-seok said positively, "If he calls your name and remembers you, doesn't that feel good as a fan?" and Joo Woo-jae explained, "And the person who is easy to meet offline is Jung Joon-ha hyung. Because he runs stores," Haha chimed in, "You can just go to his shabu-shabu restaurant," and Jung Joon-ha nodded, saying, "There is also a sashimi restaurant, and so on.."
Then Heo Sung-tae revealed, "At first I went to the restaurant he opened in Apgujeong and he was like, 'Try this too. This is tasty. It's a new menu, try this too!' so I thought it was part of the service. But when I saw the bill, everything was on there. I realized, oh, this isn't a complimentary service," he exposed.
At this, Jung Joon-ha stammered, "Hey, that squid really.." and Yoo Jae-seok laughed, "Is Heo Sung-tae trying to get Jung Joon-ha today?" Heo Sung-tae said, "No, I'm just stating the facts. So I thought, 'Wow, I can't come to this place.' Still, I went three times. I brought the director and important people," he said.
Hearing this, Kim Kwang-kyu asked, "I went several times too, so why did that little place disappear?" and Heo Sung-tae cautiously answered on his behalf, "They overcharged a lot..," which caused uproarious laughter. He continued, "Because I saw the bill and..," and Kim Kwang-kyu agreed, "Me too," adding to the laughter.
Jung Joon-ha let out a nervous chuckle, "You really make up stories, squid," and Yoo Jae-seok scolded, "But Joon-ha hyung said in the waiting room, 'Because we're not that close yet, we won't diss each other. Heo Kyung-hwan teased, "Isn't it tiki-tiki?" and Jung Joon-ha protested, "Do you really bite like this?" Feeling wronged. Han Sang-jin tried to smooth things over, "But he's a warm-hearted hyung. Recently Joon-ha hyung sent me kimchi. He suddenly sent me a lot of kimchi," and Jung Joon-ha repeatedly explained, "But really, it's not a lie — I never skimmed anyone's pay. That's a misunderstanding."
Heo Sung-tae also admitted, "It was a joke," acknowledging it was a playful remark, and Yoo Jae-seok asked, "This isn't Jung Joon-ha's overcharging controversy. Say it again. Explain it clearly," prompting Jung Joon-ha to confess, "I really think this overcharging controversy is that they ordered among themselves and thanked me and paid everything and only now are saying this. And the appearance fee was not paid to me but to the production company; I did up to season 2 and I still haven't received a single penny. I never skimmed anyone's pay. I have nothing to do with the production company."
But Heo Sung-tae insisted, "No, that's certain. If it was a complimentary service, don't eat it," and Yoo Jae-seok burst out laughing, "He's persistent.."<
