He cleared up the misunderstanding by talking with the complainant in the billion-won fraud accusation against Lee Cheon-su and succeeded in reaching an amicable settlement.
On the 7th, Lee Cheon-su's agency DH Entertainment released an official statement saying, "We speak regarding the recently raised fraud allegation against Lee Cheon-su. This case originated from a misunderstanding by complainant A, and Lee Cheon-su and A reached an amicable settlement."
The agency said, "As a result of reconfirming the facts, the complainant acknowledged that she had misperceived some details and recognized that the accused Lee Cheon-su had no intent to defraud or deceive," and added, "Accordingly, complainant A no longer wishes for investigation or punishment and has decided to officially withdraw the complaint."
Earlier, the Jeju Provincial Police Agency received A's complaint and booked Lee Cheon-su on fraud charges. In the complaint, A wrote that "Lee Cheon-su asked to borrow living expenses in 2018, and I transferred 132 million won in nine installments through April 2021."
Regarding this, Lee Cheon-su's side rebutted, "It is true that we received the money from the other party, but A gave the money telling me to just use it," and said, "Because there was no intent to deceive, the claim of fraud is not true." Lee Cheon-su's side added, "We are willing to return the money to A."
After the case became known, it drew attention not only domestically but also overseas, including in Japan, and Lee Cheon-su resolved the matter after clearing up the misunderstanding with A.
The agency added, "Lee Cheon-su and A understood this matter as a mishap stemming from a misunderstanding and resolved it amicably. Since this matter has been well settled, we hope there will be no further speculative remarks or spread."
Meanwhile, Lee Cheon-su played for the national team in the 2002 World Cup and achieved the "semifinal miracle," gaining great popularity. He married Shim Ha-eun in 2012 and has one son and two daughters. Lee Cheon-su currently runs the YouTube channel "Richun-su".
