Jeon Young-ja, the wife of the late novelist Lee Oi-soo, has died. She was 72 years old.
According to bereaved family members on the 8th, Jeon Young-ja passed away on the morning of the 7th at her home in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.
The wake is at special room 1 of the funeral hall at Hoban Hospital in Chuncheon, and the funeral procession will be held at 6:30 a.m. on the 10th.
Born in Yanggu, Gangwon Province, Jeon Young-ja was a former Miss Gangwon. She met novelist Lee Oi-soo when he was working as a café DJ in Chuncheon and she went there as a customer.
The couple, who married in 1976, began living apart at the end of 2018 and announced a "separate marriage" in 2019. At the time, Lee Oi-soo said he did not want a divorce, so they agreed to a separate marriage.
However, the following year when Lee Oi-soo collapsed, they ended the separate marriage and she stayed by her husband's side to care for him. She stayed with him until his death in 2022, and thereafter lived alone in Chuncheon.
