Actress Lee Cheol-min's daughter, rising actress Lee Shin-hyang, expressed her feelings about appearing in the play "Special Boeing Boeing".
On the afternoon of the 7th, a press call for the play "Special Boeing Boeing" (directed by Son Nam-mok) was held at the Daehangno Starlit Hall in Dongsung-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. At the event, Son Nam-mok, the director of the production, as well as comedian Lee Kyung-sil, Tae-sa-ja member Park Jun-seok, actors Jung Ga-eun, Ahn Sang-hoon, Seok Ji-soo, and Lee Shin-hyang attended, presented the third act of the production and then answered questions from reporters who attended the scene.
"Special Boeing Boeing" is one of the representative popular performances that has been staged in Daehangno since 2001. After going through "Boeing Boeing" and "New Boeing Boeing," it was transformed by director Son Nam-mok into "Special Boeing Boeing" for its 24th year.
Lee Shin-hyang appears in the play as the character Lee Ji-soo. Lee Shin-hyang, who is also the daughter of veteran actor Lee Cheol-min, recently became known after appearing on the tvN STORY and E Channel variety show "My Child's Love." She then gained attention for being cast in "Special Boeing Boeing." Director Son Nam-mok said, "I had no idea Lee Shin-hyang was Lee Cheol-min's daughter. She was selected after passing an audition with 100-to-1 odds," expressing strong confidence.
Regarding this, Lee Shin-hyang said, "I always wanted to stand on the theater stage, even when I attended arts high school. Last year I performed in a small black box theater. This year I was offered the show 'My Child's Love' and did it, but I applied for the 'Special Boeing Boeing' audition before the show started, and the director did not know I was Lee Cheol-min's daughter, so I auditioned the same as other Daehangno actors and joined the cast."
She added, "So this is my first time joining a commercial Daehangno production. I'm very nervous every time I go to the rehearsal room. The actors in our production span every age group. From people in their 20s up to their 50s, it's very diverse, and the atmosphere is really good. They take great care of me. We joke around like friends. We take a lot of reels with sister Ga-eun. They treat me so well," she said with a smile, adding, "That helped me to assimilate into the atmosphere even faster. I'm very grateful."
However, her father Lee Cheol-min has not yet seen his daughter's performance. Lee Shin-hyang said, "My father hasn't seen the show yet, but, as always, he quietly supports me. I think he might come to see it sometime next week," asking for her family's support.
"Special Boeing Boeing" opened on the 1st and will run at the Daehangno Starlit Hall through Feb. 1, 2026.
