TOMORROW X TOGETHER member Yeonjun's first solo album, 'NO LABELS: PART 01', released today (7th) at 2 p.m., marks his solo debut about 6 years and 8 months after his debut. It is an album that strips away modifiers and labels to present Yeonjun himself.
The new release includes a total of six tracks: the title track 'Talk to You', 'Forever', 'Let Me Tell You (feat. Daniela of KATSEYE)', 'Do It', 'Nothin' 'Bout Me', and 'Coma'. Yeonjun participated in the lyric writing for five tracks except the English song 'Forever', and he is credited as a composer on the title track and 'Nothin' 'Bout Me'. If last year's solo mixtape 'GGUM' created a big reaction, this new release shows a further expanded musical spectrum.
'Talk to You' sings about your strong attraction to me and the tension that blossoms within it. As a hard rock song with an impressive guitar riff, Yeonjun's gritty vocals over lively drum sounds are captivating. The performance with MegaCrew delivers overwhelming scale and immersion. At the center, Yeonjun demonstrates a distinctive presence with movements that alternate between explosive energy and delicacy.
Yeonjun, who will freely reveal himself and present the 'Yeonjun core', responded to questions through his agency BigHit Music.
Q. How do you feel about releasing your first solo album?
I felt a sense of burden because it's my first album. It felt different from the mixtape. But my affection was greater, so I actively participated in creating the songs, performances, and various other parts. Now I'm very excited and looking forward to it.
Q. Explain the album's composition and why you chose 'Talk to You' as the title track
Each track is a different genre. Even so, I tried to infuse my own color and feeling into every song so listeners could feel a consistent musical thread in one album. Thanks to that, it became the album that best expresses and shows me. I felt 'my song' as soon as I heard the title track 'Talk to You'. (laughs) I thought it best expressed the image I wanted to show. I still can't forget the thrill I felt when I first heard it.
Q. Any episodes from preparing the performance?
Because what I wanted to show on stage was clear, I discussed the overall composition and choreography a lot with the performance directing team. In particular, the 'Coma' choreography came out as I imagined, so I hope people look forward to it. Also, with 'Let Me Tell You (feat. Daniela of KATSEYE)', I remember feeling proud while directly revising and producing the choreography. I hope when people see me on stage they think, 'Yeonjun has gone crazy.'
Q. How was the chemistry with KATSEYE's Daniela, who featured on a track?
I've always thought she is a very talented artist, so I was glad to work with her this time. Thanks to Daniela's participation, the song's tension and excitement seem to be well expressed.
Q. Why did you personally reveal the album's main content on your social media?
I wanted to first show how this album reflects me and the process of my work. I felt this approach was true to me, so it was fun and enjoyable.
