Pop star Katy Perry, who split from actor Orlando Bloom, expressed her feelings through a new song.
On the 6th (local time), foreign outlet Page Six and others reported that after Katy Perry ended a 10-year relationship with Orlando Bloom, she hinted at the breakup process through the lyrics and music video of a new song released Thursday.
In the new song "Bandaids," Katy Perry sings, "I swear to God, I really tried / I turned over every stone / Not because of what you did, but because of what you didn't do / You were there physically, but not in your heart."
The lyrics continue, "I became so used to you letting me down / What good are flowers sent now? / Even if you fool yourself with 'this time will be different,' in the end you don't change / It's just a bandage on a broken heart."
In the second verse she sang about the efforts she made to keep the relationship with Orlando Bloom. Katy Perry lamented, "I tried every kind of medicine and lowered my expectations / Even if I made every excuse / Like bleeding slowly, our love was also dying slowly."
She also pointed to Bloom's indifference, saying, "It wasn't that hard; I just wanted you to ask how my day was / I tried to save us as if my breath were stopping, but you made no effort."
Finally, Katy Perry added she had no regrets about the breakup with Orlando Bloom, saying, "Still, I have no regrets / Even if I went back, I would have loved the same / Even if the love we made ultimately remained as scars, it was worth it."
Katy Perry also hinted through the music video that the song is about her breakup with Orlando Bloom. The music video features a "daisy" — the same name as the couple's 5-year-old daughter, Daisy. Early in the video there is also a scene where while doing the dishes she drops a ring into the sink drain and reaches in with her hand, injuring it on a hook-style disposer. That has been interpreted as showing their relationship reached a catastrophe.
Earlier, Katy Perry appeared on a podcast last year and said she gives Orlando Bloom a special reward when he does housework, confessing, "A clean kitchen is my love language. I don't want a red Ferrari, just do the dishes. Then I'll gladly show him love."
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom officially announced in July that they had ended their 10-year relationship. In a joint statement announcing the split, they said, "Our top priority is raising our daughter with love, stability and mutual respect."
After splitting from Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry has recently attracted attention over dating rumors with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.
