'Problem Child in House' actress Jeong Ae-ri said she learned a lot from watching Hong Jin Kyung's battle with ovarian cancer.
On the 6th broadcast of KBS2TV entertainment show Problem Child in House, actresses Jeong Ae-ri and Geum Bo-ra appeared. As expected they were scene stealers, and the two who have been loved for roles that always draw attention in drama that become popular with the public planned to reunite once more after 'Wife's Temptation'.
Jeong Ae-ri said, "I'm doing a drama called 'Marie and Her Three Daddies.' I'm appearing together. But they told me to come and promote the drama," adding, "KBS has changed a lot. It's a story about a child born from a donation received at a sperm bank," saying she appeared to promote the drama. Geum Bo-ra said, "It's the first time in my life I've been in a drama where sperm is the main character," clicking her tongue.
In the drama, the two play sister-in-law and younger sister-in-law, their husbands died early and they live alone. A man appears to shake the two women, foreshadowing a love triangle.
Geum Bo-ra said coolly, "These days I don't have a husband. The appearance fee is expensive," drawing laughter. Geum Bo-ra boasted, "I have beauty. So you could cast anyone from a grandfather to a father. Wouldn't it be hard for men to approach someone like Jeong Ae-ri?" Jeong Ae-ri added, "That's why we're a love triangle," creating curiosity.
Jeong Ae-ri majored in Korean dance and Geum Bo-ra debuted at age 18. Jeong Ae-ri is one year older and two months senior to Geum Bo-ra. From their debuts they drew much attention by shooting cosmetics and calendar advertisements. The two led similar yet different lives. Geum Bo-ra said, "I once threw a script in anger. A junior wouldn't come to set every time, and that was a scene with me. The director told me to act alone and go change my costume. I would have had to go all the way home. So I shouted, 'I'm not doing it, you bastard.'"
By contrast, Jeong Ae-ri was quiet enough that she remembered that side of Geum Bo-ra. Geum Bo-ra said, "If my sister gets angry she will probably pray. A prayer that endures herself." Jeong Ae-ri said, "Even after I tell someone they're wrong, I don't feel good."
Jeong Ae-ri, who seems to specialize in restraining herself, abruptly stopped activities because of a battle with ovarian cancer and revealed her illness. Jeong Ae-ri said, "Now it's been five years and I graduated from cancer. In the past Hong Jin Kyung was also sick. She had the same diagnosis as me. So I learned a lot by observing how Hong Jin Kyung lives. There were many bad habits like staying up all night," she said, looking at Hong Jin Kyung.
He was busy with musicals, radio and drama, and one day he ended up in the emergency room because of abdominal pain. Peritonitis had already covered his insides and the doctor was astonished. But the course of the surgery led to the discovery of ovarian cancer.
Hong Jin Kyung said, "This cancer, if it is discovered when something else bursts like in Jeong Ae-ri or me, you survive. Jeong Ae-ri had peritonitis, and I went to remove a cyst from my uterus and the doctor there, just in case, did a biopsy and discovered it was ovarian cancer," calling it a matter of luck.
