Model Kim Seong-chan (real name Kim Gyeong-mo) died after a two-year battle with lymphoma, and interest continues in the footsteps he left behind after his sudden passing.
On the 6th, Kim Seong-chan's older brother announced on social media, "This is Kim Gyeong-mo (Seong-chan)'s older brother. Gyeong-mo passed away from cancer after more than two years of battling the disease," the news said. He was 35.
The older brother added, "I have no way to contact Gyeong-mo's acquaintances, so I'm leaving this post. Please offer warm comfort and words to my younger brother. Thank you."
According to the obituary released by the bereaved family, Kim Seong-chan died on the 6th. The wake will be held in room 2 at Seoul Medical Center Funeral Hall, and the funeral procession is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on the 8th. The burial site is Eden Memorial Park.
Kim Seong-chan debuted in 2013 through the '2014 S/S Unbounded Awe' fashion show and the following year appeared on OnStyle's 'Challenge! Supermodel Korea Season 5: Guys & Girls,' which brought his face and name to public attention.
In 2019 he entered Milan Fashion Week with the '2020 S/S User' collection and was active as a magazine model, using his tall stature and attractive visuals to make an impact.
Last year, Kim Seong-chan revealed his illness, saying, "I've been holding on and enduring a lot until now, but I'll honestly tell my story," and "I visited hospitals because something felt wrong with my body. Then I saw black membranes in my eyes, and they said it wasn't an ophthalmology problem so they did a brain test. Then they told me I have cancer."
Kim Seong-chan said, "They said it's non-Hodgkin lymphoma. So I had to shave all my hair. I ended up relying on hospitals," and "I hope model friends or my acquaintances get brain scans. After six months of chemotherapy I had a Hickman line inserted and completed autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation."
After confessing his battle with cancer, Kim Seong-chan left a hopeful message in January saying, "As you can see, I'm recovering well," and his sudden death has brought sorrow.
On hearing the obituary, Rainbow Noeul left a condolence comment saying, "My deepest condolences. Seong-chan, don't be sick anymore and rest in peace," and models Joo Won-dae and actor Lee Jae-seong also paid tribute.
