Actor Han Ga-in boasted beauty that would not be out of place debuting as an idol in her mid-40s.
On the 6th, a video titled "What if 44-year-old mother of two Han Ga-in properly received idol makeup? (with IVE's Heme teacher)" was uploaded to Han Ga-in's YouTube channel "Freewife Han Ga-in."
In the video, Han Ga-in said, "From the comments you requested, there was a request that I try idol hair·makeup, so I came to a place that specializes only in idols." Han Ga-in explained, "I told the production team that I felt uncomfortable and wondered if I should do something like this, but I'll try a transformation even though I don't know if it will be a transformation. I'll find out what the trends are these days and how to achieve a 'natural but styled' look."
Makeup artist Yoon So-jung explained, "She usually does a lot of natural makeup, but her eyes are very large, her nose is high, and her contours are distinct. Idol makeup differs from actor makeup in the sense that color is applied, so clothing is also important. She often wears leather, so we set the concept to have a stylish vibe with added color."
Hair artist Son Ji-hye said, "Her hair length is short, so there isn't much we can do. To add an idol-like feel, I plan to attach bridge pieces," and shared the plan. Han Ga-in, while excited and nervous, said, "I've worn black hair consistently since my debut."
As makeup began, Yoon So-jung said, "Idols have to create a pretty look in a few seconds under strong lighting, so makeup is done to maximize what they have. Actors, on the other hand, emphasize their natural beauty." Han Ga-in agreed, saying, "The camera comes in close, and while blemishes aren't visible to the naked eye, they can show up on camera."
Han Ga-in confessed, "I never go to a salon unless I have work. Early on in filming YouTube, I filmed without makeup, but it felt rude. Natural is good, but I thought I should at least do something." She also expressed frustration, saying, "I have the gentle dog-face look. I asked my husband, 'Am I gentle? How is it?' and he said, 'Our baby is gentle.' It's unfair—my eyes look gentle but people think I'm sharp. The world isn't like that. I'm someone who can't say unpleasant things."
The more hair and makeup she received, the more Han Ga-in displayed doll-like beauty. When told she could debut, Han Ga-in objectively analyzed herself, saying, "There would be nowhere to accept me. I'm a mom-idol with kids. If I had been cast as an idol at first, I think I wouldn't have dared enter the entertainment industry." About her nose, Han Ga-in said, "My mother's side all have high noses. My maternal uncles all have high noses, and one of our uncles is a fan of this channel," jokingly predicting her uncle would appear and drawing laughter.
After hair and makeup and putting on the outfit, Han Ga-in also wore circle lenses. Han Ga-in, who said she once turned down a circle lens advertisement because her irises are larger than the lenses, perfectly completed her idol transformation and commented, "It was so fun. It was amazing to have a new look made for me. Even just the hair made me feel free, and I feel like I wouldn't lose a fight."
Finally, Han Ga-in video-called her family. Her daughter and son exclaimed, "You're so pretty," marveling at their mother's transformation.
