Singer G-Dragon candidly expressed his resentment and pain for the first time since the drug allegation case, drawing viewers' attention.
On the May 5 broadcast of MBC 'Son Seok-hee's Questions', G-Dragon appeared and personally explained 'POWER' and the meaning within it. He said, "In this song I included the message I wanted to convey as I viewed the world from a third person's perspective," and added, "Although I put my story into satire and metaphor, the meaning I wanted to convey was clear."
When Son Seok-hee asked, "Does that message refer to 'that incident' from last year?", G-Dragon cautiously replied, "Around the time I was making the album, I became involved in a certain incident..." When Son Seok-hee confirmed, "The incident we all know," it was implied that this referred to the situation during the drug allegations.
G-Dragon confessed, "Even as a third party, it was something I didn't want to know about, but at some point I became a party to that incident," and said, "The hardest part was that there was nowhere to speak." He recalled, "Even though I was a party, there was no space to express my feelings or position," and "Even though I was a victim, rather than shouting that I was wronged, I just had to watch the situation spiral out of control."
He described that time as "empty and futile," saying, "I couldn't protest or hold a press conference. I just had to endure that time. It was so frustrating that I had to bear it." Son Seok-hee expressed empathy, saying, "Even though he was clearly a victim, there must have been pain he couldn't speak about."
In fact, this was not the first time G-Dragon revealed such inner feelings. On the October broadcast last year of tvN 'You Quiz on the Block', he mentioned his state of mind at the time, saying, "I felt like I was being pushed into corners without finding answers," and that, "I tried only to keep my center because if I became mentally exhausted I might have dangerous thoughts."
For that reason, his remarks this time resonate even more. With a calm voice that reflected on himself rather than expressing resentment, G-Dragon said, "All that time was both pain and a process," and added, "Now I will answer with music, with art."
Meanwhile, after the incident, G-Dragon resumed activities last year with the new song 'POWER' about a year later. He continues to communicate with the world in his own way and carries on a journey of transforming wounds into art.<
