Actor Jeon Jong-seo has joined the Hollywood mega-blockbuster remake Highlander.
This project is a mega-blockbuster with a production budget of 100 billion won, a global project that brings together a star-studded cast including Henry Cavill, Mark Ruffalo, Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Jeremy Irons. The film is directed by Chad Stahelski, who showcased a distinctive action aesthetic with the John Wick series, and will be produced by United Labels under Amazon MGM Studios.
Jeon Jong-seo appears as a member of the secret organization "The Watchers," which monitors the immortals in the film.
Highlander began as a 1986 film of the same name and has built a long-standing fan base; the original fandom has significant influence. This remake is regarded as a project that attracts concentrated interest from original fans along with high expectations.
Jeon Jong-seo earlier expanded her activities, having been invited to the Cannes Film Festival for director Lee Chang-dong's Burning, then moving into Hollywood with Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, and most recently with Project Y, which was invited to the Toronto International Film Festival. With her appearance in Highlander, she is expected to continue a broader trajectory on the global stage.
Meanwhile, the Highlander remake is scheduled to begin principal photography in early 2026.
