Actor Park Si-hoo said the reason he chose Shin-ui Akdan (director Kim Hyeong-hyeop) as his screen comeback after 10 years was the "powerful force of the script."
The film Shin-ui Akdan, scheduled to be released this December, is a story about a fake praise troupe created in North Korea to earn foreign currency. In the film, Park Si-hoo plays the North Korean security officer Park Gyo-sun, who leads the mission to form a 'fake praise troupe' for $200 million.
On choosing his screen comeback after 10 years, Park Si-hoo said, "Because it was my return after a long time, I reviewed the script carefully," and added, "Shin-ui Akdan's ingenious setup of a 'fake praise troupe' and the internal conflict and extreme duality experienced by the character Park Gyo-sun felt very attractive. There was no reason to hesitate," expressing strong confidence in the work.
Park Si-hoo went on to say, "This is the first time I play a North Korean soldier, and it was a film I happily shot with the best staff and fellow senior and junior actors after a long time," and added, "I will come back with a film that has warm emotion."
The film increased its level of completion with cast and crew united even in extreme conditions reaching 30 degrees, including overseas locations in Mongolia and Hungary. Director Kim Hyeong-hyeop said, "Despite unfamiliar environments and harsh climates, the actors and production team all endured together. That passion is captured on the screen," showing strong confidence in the work. In particular, the cinematography that captured exotic landscapes and on-site reality as they were is expected to further elevate the film's scale and immersion.
Through various works such as the dramas drama Princess Prosecutor, The Princess' Man, and Wind, Cloud and Rain, Park Si-hoo has shown an irreplaceable charm and a wide acting spectrum. Having demonstrated boundless acting ability across genres, attention is focused on the Park Gyo-sun character, which he will embody with 10 years of experience.
The film Shin-ui Akdan brings together director Kim Hyeong-hyeop, Park Si-hoo returning after 10 years, Jung Jin-woon who promises a powerful acting transformation, and 12 trustworthy actors including Tae Hang-ho, Seo Dong-won, Jang Ji-geon, Moon Kyung-min, and Choi Seon-ja, to portray the miraculous moments when the 'fake' becomes 'real' with cheerful laughter and touching emotion.
