Comedian Sim Hyeon-seob, 55, and his wife, Jeong Yeong-rim, 44, said they decided to undergo in vitro fertilization.
On the 4th, a video titled "Fetal nickname: Now we set off for Sim Bamba" was posted on the YouTube channel "Jeong Yeong-rim Sim Hyeon-seob."
In the video, the two had a serious conversation in the car on the way to the hospital and talked about their plans for a child.
Jeong Yeong-rim said, "I made a hospital appointment for IVF," and added, "I'm a little nervous. It feels like we're really getting ready now. I wonder if everyone doing IVF feels this way."
Sim Hyeon-seob comforted his wife, saying, "It's not like we're having two kids through natural conception, so first-time births will be more nerve-wracking." He continued, "We actually tried for a pregnancy from early in our newlywed period," and said, "They say couples need to be careful not to fight at this stage. I hear couples say, 'We got tested then, so why do we have to go to the hospital again?' and end up fighting."
Sim said, "Honestly, my wife is the one who has it hard. Will you be okay? You'll have to get shots in your belly," and added, "Yeong-rim comes first for me. I'm worried she might be in pain when she gets the shots."
Jeong Yeong-rim said, "Still, we have to get through it," and added, "I hope we hear good news soon. If it doesn't work, there's nothing we can do. Our ages add up to 99. Still, we have to try."
Sim Hyeon-seob and Jeong Yeong-rim met through the variety show "Lovers of Joseon" and held their wedding in Apr. They have consistently shown on broadcasts that they want to have a child right after getting married.
