HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE has been reborn as a 'reverse-hit iKON' after setting new personal bests on major music charts including the U.S. Billboard.
According to the latest chart released on Nov. 8 announced by Billboard on the 4th (local time), KATSEYE's second EP BEAUTIFUL CHAOS track "Gabriela" rose to No. 37 on the main song chart Hot 100. This is three spots up from two weeks ago at No. 41 and up from last week at No. 40, marking the group's highest placement on that chart.
"Gabriela" entered the chart at No. 94 immediately after its release in June. After a powerful performance at Lollapalooza Chicago in August that generated buzz, the song began climbing back up the charts. It returned at No. 76 (Aug. 23), then rose to No. 63 (Sept. 6) and No. 45 (Sept. 27), and this week finally broke into the top 30.
"Gabriela" also set a personal best this week by reaching No. 16 on Billboard's Pop Airplay chart. Since first entering in mid-August at No. 37, it has remained on the chart for 13 consecutive weeks. Its performance on the Pop Airplay chart, which tallies radio airplay points, shows that KATSEYE's public recognition is spreading rapidly.
KATSEYE's album has also shown steady strength. BEAUTIFUL CHAOS settled at No. 42 on the main album chart Billboard 200, marking its 17th consecutive week on the chart. The album rose as high as No. 4 on that chart shortly after its release (July 12) and has maintained steady popularity more than four months after release. It also ranked No. 16 on Top Album Sales and No. 14 on Top Current Album Sales, appearing on both charts for 18 consecutive weeks.
KATSEYE is dominating not only Billboard but major charts around the world. "Gabriela" reached No. 8 on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global (Nov. 2) and broke into the top 10 on the Weekly Top Songs Global with a peak of No. 10 for two weeks (Sept. 26 and Oct. 3). It also recorded its best performance on the U.K. Official Singles Top 100, reaching No. 38 (Oct. 17–23).
KATSEYE, born under Chairman Bang Si-hyuk's "K-pop methodology," was selected through the global audition project The Debut: Dream Academy, which involved 120,000 participants worldwide. They then debuted in the United States after undergoing HYBE America's systematic training and development (T&D) system.
KATSEYE will embark on their first solo North American tour starting in November, consisting of 16 performances in 13 cities including Minneapolis, Toronto, Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Sugar Land, Irving, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles and Mexico City. In April next year, they will perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, often called the "stage of dreams."
