TVXQ! member Yunho about the presidential commendation
Yunho held a press conference at 2 p.m. on the 5th in the grand ballroom of the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul hotel in Jamsil, Songpa District, Seoul, to commemorate the release of his first solo studio album "I-KNOW."
That day Yunho commented on TVXQ!'s receiving the presidential award at the 16th Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards last month, saying, "I feel rewarded that what we have done over the years has brought us such a good commendation in the K-pop industry."
He added, "I think our team was lucky to start with tapes and experience CDs and data as well. I'm grateful just to be able to greet you as an active artist. I think not only TVXQ! but many juniors calling us good seniors and role models may have viewed this in a positive way so that it could continue."
TVXQ! received the presidential commendation at the 16th Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards held on the 23rd of last month. The 16th Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards is the government's highest honor in the field of popular culture and arts, given to artists and groups that contributed to the spread of the Korean Wave and the development of the industry.
TVXQ! marked the 20th anniversary of their Korean debut in 2023 and their 20th anniversary of their Japanese debut this year, and as artists who continue to write new history—breaking their own records for the most Tokyo Dome and nationwide dome concerts by an overseas artist—they are indisputably K-pop legend artists who have been active across music, acting, musicals and variety shows, both as a group and as solo artists.
