Girl group BLACKPINK member Lisa is being mentioned as part of the casting lineup for the live-action adaptation of the Disney animation 'Rapunzel' alongside Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson.
Recently, foreign media outlets such as the Times of India reported that as Disney proceeds with a live-action adaptation of the animated film 'Rapunzel' (original English title 'Tangled'), BLACKPINK's Lisa is being mentioned as a lead alongside Scarlett Johansson.
According to reports, Disney, after several live-action films such as The Little Mermaid and Snow White failed to achieve the expected success, is focusing on new star casting. For this, global popular idol BLACKPINK's Lisa is being considered for the role of Rapunzel, and Scarlett Johansson is being mentioned for the role of Mother Gothel.
Lisa made her acting debut earlier this year in February by appearing as Muk in season 3 of the U.S. cable TV HBO series White Lotus. Based on this, she signed with major Hollywood agency WME and is reportedly reviewing various global series and film appearances, including Netflix films.
The live-action Rapunzel was temporarily suspended in April but recently resumed. In this process, Michael Gracey, who directed The Greatest Showman, is reported to be taking the director's chair. Before Lisa, Florence Pugh and Sydney Sweeney were mentioned as candidates for Rapunzel.
