"Good Partner" is returning for season 2, and while Jang Nara remains, Nam Ji-hyun is leaving and Kim Hye-yoon's joining means the leading cast is expected to be reshuffled.
On the 5th, a representative of Kim Hye-yoon's agency Artist Company told OSEN, "Kim Hye-yoon has received an offer for 'Good Partner season 2' and is reviewing it."
"Good Partner" is a 16-episode drama that aired from July to September last year. Written by current divorce lawyer Choi Yu-na, it received praise for unfolding various stories in episode format centered on real cases she experienced in the field, focusing on star divorce lawyer Cha Eun-kyung (played by Jang Nara).
In particular, Jang Nara's passionate performance was remarkable. Leaving behind her signature youthful and lovable image, she transformed into an iron-willed divorce lawyer and delivered a cathartic performance as she resolved her own divorce caused by her husband's affair and clients' divorces. Riding that success, "Good Partner" season 1 achieved a peak rating of 17.7% and gained great popularity. In April, season 2 was confirmed, raising expectations among drama fans.
But changes were also foreshadowed. Nam Ji-hyun, who played rookie lawyer Han Yu-ri and co-starred with Jang Nara in season 1, will not be joining season 2. Since season 1's coming-of-age story of rookie lawyer Han Yu-ri, the womance between veteran star lawyer Cha Eun-kyung and Han Yu-ri, and the womance chemistry between Jang Nara and Nam Ji-hyun were among the praised elements, this decision prompted regret.
Amid this, Kim Hye-yoon has been mentioned as a season 2 member to succeed Nam Ji-hyun. Kim Hye-yoon received praise for her chemistry with co-stars in numerous works, including Lovely Runner, which propelled actor Byeon Wooseok to stardom last year, and A Day Found by Chance, in which she worked with Rowoon and Lee Jae-wook. Expectations are also building for the chemistry between Kim Hye-yoon and Jang Nara.
However, Kim Hye-yoon is already set to appear in SBS's new 2026 drama "Starting today, I am human" and is currently filming the movie "Land." Attention is focused on how Jang Nara's new meeting with "Good Partner" will take shape in season 2.
