Broadcaster Jang Yeong-ran visited her old home in Gocheok-dong, Guro District, Seoul, where she lived for a long time before marrying, and revealed a touching family history.

Through a recent broadcast, Jang Yeong-ran visited her hometown of Gocheok-dong in Guro District with her husband Han-chang and looked around various parts of the neighborhood. In particular, when they arrived in front of the dwelling that had been her long-time home, she appeared moved.
Jang Yeong-ran explained the house's history, which holds memories of her childhood, saying, "This is our house. My father lived in a small rented room, then the landlord sold the house and he bought it, and when I was in the sixth grade of elementary school they tore down the house and built a red brick house."
Her husband Han-chang expressed regret, saying, "At that time my father could have bought an apartment in Mok-dong, but he chose this place."
Jang Yeong-ran explained her father's reason for giving up an apartment to build a dwelling, saying, "He could have bought two units in Mok-dong, but my father liked the idea of standing on his own land (so he built the dwelling)," conveying her father's sincere wish to own "my land" rather than material value.
