TV CHOSUN variety show 'Our baby is born again,' the first live-birth broadcast variety in Korea, sent birth correspondents Park Soo-hong and Son Min-soo of the 'Dads' to personally visit the delivery of the youngest of the "6.6 billion large family" and share in the joy of the birth.
On the April 4 broadcast of TV CHOSUN's Our baby is born again (directed by Lee Seung-hoon, Kim Joon / writer Jang Joo-yeon), 'Jae-i's dad' Park Soo-hong and 'twin dad' Son Min-soo met the "6.6 billion large family couple." The couple, who started a children's clothing business with the birth of their first child, grew the business along with their children's growth and achieved last year's sales of 6.6 billion won, a sign of their success. Moreover, the mother, a 'supermom' who conceived and delivered all four children naturally, was 42 years old at the time of her last birth but conceived the fifth child naturally as well, which impressed Park Soo-hong and Son Min-soo of the 'Dads'.
The mother recalled her difficult previous births, saying "After the fifth, my body probably won't hold up for a sixth." She said, "The day I gave birth to the second was the worst. When you deliver a baby, you put them in the mother's arms, but I used all my strength and was half fainted. I couldn't warmly hold my second child," expressing her pain. This time, due to excessive work, the mother experienced a preterm labor scare at seven months pregnant. On top of that, the baby's head was large, which caused further worry.
Arriving at the delivery of the "6.6 billion large family," Son Min-soo said, "I was nervous because it's my first time at a birth. I woke up at 5:30 a.m.," revealing his extreme tension. Park Soo-hong joked, "I woke up at 6:18. Are we having a kid?" The husband urged the mother, "Don't think unnecessary things and just rest," but the perfectionist mother could not stop worrying not only about the baby but also about the four children who would be at home during the delivery. The mother became teary-eyed, saying, "I feel a little sorry because I think I didn't think about the baby enough."
Then the mother went into labor and delivery was imminent. Son Min-soo, who was at a delivery for the first time, looked even more nervous than the husband, clasping his hands and praying. Contrary to worries, the mother pushed slowly and delivered naturally. After enjoying the birth of their fifth child, the two joked, "Let's exercise, old mom and dad..." expressing their anticipation for the future with their five children.
After rehearsing the birth scene through the "6.6 billion large family couple," Son Min-soo became a twin dad with the birth of his wife Lim Ra-ra's children. Lim Ra-ra, who experienced pruritic urticarial papules of pregnancy, underwent surgery after her health deteriorated and delivered by operation. When the babies were born first, Son Min-soo asked, "Is the mother healthy?" showing concern for his wife. Fortunately, Lim Ra-ra completed the surgery successfully, but nine days after delivery she suffered postpartum hemorrhage and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit in a critical condition. Having overcome this crisis, Lim Ra-ra was fortunately recovering her health. The couple revealed their thriving twin son and daughter, drawing attention.
Meanwhile, the episode also included an epilogue about the 'surfer mom' who gave birth to her second child amid repeated conflicts and an estrangement that led to an imminent divorce, and her younger husband. Although the couple seemed to reconcile as they welcomed the happy moment of their second child's birth together, they grew exhausted by recurring fights and eventually went for 'couples counseling.' The wife described the husband, saying, "As a wife, I wasn't respected," and said he swore and shouted when he was angry. The husband countered that his wife was overly sensitive for wanting only affection and warmth.
After hearing each spouse's story, psychiatrist Dr. Noh Gyu-sik said, "The wife is in an overly sensitive state and would benefit from psychiatric medication," offering the first solution to reduce her sensitivity. He added, "Based on the husband's test results, affection and tenderness are difficult. It's not indifference or intentional, but he does lack empathy. The husband is the type who cannot show empathy through words, so he should show empathy through actions," offering a second solution. Dr. Noh emphasized that the couple's fighting style can be seen and learned by their children and encouraged them, saying, "I hope you both work to become better parents for your children."
