god (g.o.d.) Park Jun-hyung expressed his thoughts as MC of "Superrace Freestyle."
On the afternoon of the 5th at the Westin Josun Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul, a production press conference for the TVING original "Superrace Freestyle" was held. The production press conference was attended by EP Lee Woo-hyung, PD Choi Young-rak, MC Park Jun-hyung, and celebrities appearing as team managers such as Dani Ahn, Yoon Bo-mi, Kwak Beom, Kyung Soo-jin, Jung Hyuk, Seung-hee, Cho Jin-se, Um Ji-yoon, Yun Ha-jung and players Lee Chang-wook, Park Si-hyun, Choi Kwang-bin, Kim Si-woo, Hwang Jin-woo, Han Min-kwan, Kim Dong-eun, Noh Dong-gi, Park Kyu-seung, among others, who gathered to talk.
"Superrace Freestyle" is a reality growth car-racing entertainment show set on the stage of the "2025 O-NE Superrace Championship," where top domestic drivers challenge for the final first-place prize of 100 million won.
When asked how he felt meeting Dani Ahn not as a team member but on a variety show, Park Jun-hyung said, "You hardly get to see him on broadcasts. I'm the MC, but to be honest, I don't know why I was chosen as MC. My eyesight isn't good so I can't read cue cards well. My role is to interview these teams about what they tuned since I like cars, watch over them, and explain tuning in an easy-to-understand way to viewers who, in Korea, don't have a long history of car culture and may not know much about motorsports or cars."
Dani Ahn said, "Jun-ni hyung is in the commentary booth and doesn't have many on-site duties, but even when we meet on other programs, it's nice to see him. On 'Freestyle' it's pleasant because we talk a lot about cars privately. It's the first time we've done a car program together, so it's fun and welcome," expressing his joy. Park Jun-hyung also said, "I'm proud that we can do a program like this in Korea," and jokingly called out, "CJ good kids," drawing laughter.
When asked why he cast Park Jun-hyung as MC, PD Choi Young-rak said, "There aren't as many people as you might think who like cars this much and want to widely promote tuning and car culture. In that sense, I think Park Jun-hyung is almost top-tier, and others can help with comments and such, so we give him as much of a role as fits what he can do," and candidly added, "To be honest, half of it will be for roasting during editing."
Dani Ahn also explained, "Jun-ni hyung has a role in commentary. He's well-versed in car history and plays that role. For those worried, he won't be hosting. Hosting is done by (Kim) Jin-pyo hyung." In response, Park Jun-hyung added, "It will all be edited, so don't worry," eliciting laughter.
Especially regarding whether they can ride the wave of popularity from the recent success of "F1: The Movie," Park Jun-hyung said, "When they first contacted me they said the same thing—that it seems timely because of 'F1: The Movie' these days. Motorsports have been in Korea for 20 to 30 years but weren't well known. K-pop was around for a long time too, but it recently exploded in popularity, and the timing is just right. I really hope this works out. I hope this opportunity helps make people realize that racing is a sport. I want people to know that cars aren't just for transportation but can be a sport or a hobby."
When asked about the possibility of making season 2, he said, "I'm not even thinking about season 2. Season 1 hasn't even aired yet," but added, "But I hope it gets bigger," revealing his fandom. When asked whether he would appear if season 2 casting were offered, he complained for laughs, "I'd like to be used not as the MC but as someone who works in the garage. It's uncomfortable being this clean."
Meanwhile, "Superrace Freestyle" will premiere on TVING and WAVVE on the 7th.
