(Following interview ①) Actor Jeon Yeo-been spoke about her chemistry with Jinyoung.
Recently, at a café in Gangnam District, Seoul, an interview was held with Jeon Yeo-been, a lead actor in the Genie TV original series "The Good Woman Bu-semi."
On the 4th, the 12-episode "The Good Woman Bu-semi," which concluded, is a crime romance drama about a poor female bodyguard who, with three months left until a life reset and dreaming of a big break, enters a contract marriage with a terminally ill chaebol chairman and must change her identity and survive for three months to avoid those aiming for the vast inheritance.
In the drama, Jeon Yeo-been, who played Kim Young-ran and Bu-semi, drew a love line with Jinyoung, who played Jeon Dong-min, a single father known for his devoted, pure love. However, some viewers reacted with mixed opinions about the temperature gap in Young-ran–Dong-min's love line, which became more pronounced compared with the thriller atmosphere of the early episodes.
Regarding this, Jeon Yeo-been said, "When I first joined this drama, this work was not a crime thriller genre. I thought it was a genre that contains everything. Romance and comic human elements were the main threads, and crime thriller elements were added on top of that," and added cautiously, "(But) perhaps viewers saw a strong tone in episodes 1 and 2 and then felt more of the romantic aspects later on."
She continued, "What the writer and director wanted to give to Young-ran, who has never lived an ordinary life even once, was 'warmth' and happiness. It seems they wanted to talk about love between people. I agreed with and entered the world they wanted to depict, so I also thought that was the point the work should move toward."
She also spoke about her rapport with Jinyoung. Jeon Yeo-been recalled, "He is a very quiet friend, but he quietly takes care of everyone. He always said the drama would do well, and even in moments when his character wasn't prominent, he stayed and supported us. He was a friend who showed that same attitude even in the final episodes."
She added, "So I only have gratitude toward Jinyoung. Also, some viewers showed mixed reactions to the romance. I felt sorry for Jinyoung because of that. He was a pillar who sincerely worked to unify the team. Still, he helped everyone stay together until the end," and expressed her belief, "I think Dong-min's warm and understated portrayal was realized because it reflected his true nature."
