Comedian Lee Seong-mi reflected with regret and remorse as she recalled the verbal abuse she had directed at her son.
On the 3rd, a video titled "Parenting methods of comedian Lee Seong-mi, the first comedian who succeeded with all three children! (A must-watch for parents & expectant parents)" was posted on singer Sean's YouTube channel Sean Together. In the video, Lee Seong-mi candidly shared the trials, errors and insights she experienced while raising her three children.
Lee Seong-mi said, "After my eldest graduated elementary school, he went to study in Canada. I was against sending the kids abroad alone, so I immigrated with him, but it was a battle with my son every day," she recalled. She continued, "He should have lived properly, but when he did not follow what was right, I went crazy. Our relationship worsened and my son grew twisted."
She said, "One day I cursed my son with words I couldn't even put into my mouth. The words 'You're trash and a bug-like X who doesn't even attend school properly' came out of my mouth, and at that moment the thought 'Shall I make your son into what you said?' flashed through my mind." She continued, "I thought if that had come true, our son would have been dead. From that day on I stopped cursing," she said, her eyes reddening.
Lee Seong-mi said, "I knelt and apologized to my son, and he sobbed loudly, saying 'It was hard living as Lee Seong-mi's son.' Only then did my heart soften and our relationship recover," she revealed.
She also said, "After that, I cut off all material support to make my son independent. Still, I'm so grateful that the child eventually grew up well," conveying both parental responsibility and regret, which drew attention.
