Singer Seong Si-kyung, who is reported to have suffered financial damage from a former manager who worked with him for more than 10 years, will take a week off from YouTube.
On the 4th Seong Si-kyung left a post on his YouTube channel community saying, "I will take this week off from YouTube for just one Hanju Co.. I'm sorry."
Seong Si-kyung also posted a photo that appears to have been taken in a recording studio along with the post. The sudden notice of a break appears to be a shock caused by the recently revealed betrayal by the former manager.
Earlier it was reported that a manager who had worked with Seong Si-kyung for more than 10 years caused financial damage during the process of leaving the company due to work-related issues. The manager had reportedly handled the practical aspects of Seong Si-kyung's overall management, including performances, broadcasts and advertising, and events.
In response, agency SK Jaewon said, "It has been confirmed that the former manager of Seong Si-kyung committed acts that betrayed the company's trust during the performance of duties while employed. As a result of an internal investigation, we recognize the seriousness of the matter and are confirming the exact scope of the damage. The employee in question has currently resigned," it explained.
It added, "The company deeply acknowledges its responsibility for management and supervision, and is reorganizing its internal management system to prevent the same case from recurring," and "We deeply apologize for causing concern to the fans who love the artist."
In relation to this, Seong Si-kyung also expressed his disturbed feelings through his personal account. He said, "There have been so many things this year. I first apologize and feel sorry to those who were upset by my article."
Seong Si-kyung said, "The past few months have been a continuous time of real anguish and difficulty. I experienced my trust being broken by someone I trusted, treasured and considered like family. Although this is not the first time in my 25 years since debut, it's still not easy at this age."
He went on to say, "I tried to maintain daily life because I did not want to worry people or fall apart, and I pretended to be fine, but while doing YouTube and scheduled performances I felt that my body, mind and voice were greatly damaged," referring to the impact of the hurt.
Seong Si-kyung said he is also considering year-end performances, saying, "Honestly, I kept asking myself whether I can really take the stage or whether I should. I want to be in a state where I can confidently say 'I'm okay' mentally and physically. I will decide and post a notice by the end of this week at the latest."
In closing Seong Si-kyung said, "As always, this too shall pass, and I'm glad it was not later. I will do my best so it passes well. Once again I'm sorry and I apologize," ending his post.
