Group BOYNEXTDOOR will present a collaboration song with the popular animation "Tom and Jerry."
BOYNEXTDOOR (Seongho, Liu, Myeong Jaehyeon, Taesan, Ihan, Unhak) will release the digital single "SAY CHEESE!" on the 10th in Japan to commemorate the 85th anniversary of "Tom and Jerry." The song depicts the precious friendship of a best friend who is the most fun to play with. It likens the chase between Tom and Jerry, who are both enemies and a perfect duo, to a game of pursuit and is characterized by an exciting rock'n'roll sound.
"Tom and Jerry," first broadcast in 1940, is a popular animation from Warner Bros. that depicts the cute skirmishes between the cat Tom and the mouse Jerry. Thanks to the two characters' delightful chemistry, it continues to be greatly loved to this day.
BOYNEXTDOOR was invited to the "Tom and Jerry" 85th anniversary event held at Warner Bros.' offices in Japan in February and previewed the collaboration song. The collaboration came about thanks to BOYNEXTDOOR's strong local popularity. This year they released the Japanese version of the digital single "Only today I LOVE YOU" and the second single album "BOYLIFE" in Japan and carried out vigorous activities.
In particular, "BOYLIFE" received the platinum certification from the gold disc awarded by the Recording Industry Association of Japan in September, and sold about 346,000 copies in its first week of release according to Oricon, sweeping first place on the "weekly single ranking" and the "weekly combined single ranking" (tracking period: Aug. 18-24). In addition, the group's first solo tour in Japan, "BOYNEXTDOOR TOUR 'KNOCK ON Vol.1' IN JAPAN," held across six Japanese cities for a total of 13 performances including encore shows, sold out all shows, demonstrating the group's strong popularity.
BOYNEXTDOOR will continue the momentum by performing at major events. They will attend "COUNTDOWN JAPAN 25/26," held Dec. 27-31 at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, Japan. The six members are expected to deliver a stage befitting their reputation as strong performers on the first day of the event. "Countdown Japan" began in 2003 and is Japan's largest year-end festival where artists who have delivered the year's best performances come together.
