Broadcaster Kang Yu-mi showed solidarity by sending support money along with a message of encouragement to the YouTuber who confessed to being sexually assaulted.
Recently, YouTuber Kwak Hyeol-su, who has 210,000 subscribers, uploaded a video to his channel titled "It took a long time to bring this up," and confessed that he was sexually assaulted by a taxi driver a year ago. He said, "It was so hard to pretend to be cheerful and stand in front of the camera," and opened up about the pain and recovery process after the assault.
The video drew an explosive reaction immediately after its release, surpassing 2 million views, and the comments were filled with support such as "I am also a victim but I had no courage to speak" and "Your confession will change other people's lives."
Among them, former comedian-turned-YouTuber Kang Yu-mi also left a comment directly. She empathized with Kwak Hyeol-su's courage with a short but sincere sentence: "Thank you for bringing this up."
She also quietly added her support by donating 79,000 won. Some fans applauded Kang Yu-mi's warm solidarity, saying, "It seems like a symbolic amount meaning 79 (friend)," and "Not an easy action for a celebrity."
Meanwhile, Kang Yu-mi debuted in 2004 on KBS' "Gag Concert" and gained great popularity for her candid wit; she currently runs the YouTube channel "Kang Yu-mi yumi kang channel I do it because I like it," presenting a variety of content.
