Actor Kim Soo-hyun's side has taken a cautious stance on the investigation into the late Kim Sae-ron–related case.
On the 3rd, Kim Soo-hyun's legal representative, lawyer Ko Sang-rok, said on his channel, "The police may say that 'a considerable part of the investigation has been conducted,' but personally I am concerned about whether that investigation was properly carried out based on the essence and core of the case."
He continued, "At this point, seven and a half months after the initial date of the complaint (March 20), there are no plans to seek or request a change to a new investigation team," and emphasized, "However, from the victim's perspective, because excessive time is being taken for remedies, we hope for a swift conclusion to the investigation."
Lawyer Ko also said, "It was an unavoidable measure to disclose some private records of the actor to correct the public's distorted perception," adding, "As the investigation delay lengthens, speculation spreads and the actor's reputation is being damaged."
Earlier, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Park Jeong-bo said at a regular press briefing, "There were aspects in which the related case was assigned and divided among multiple divisions, which slowed the investigation, but it is now expected to proceed with a greater sense of speed," and said, "A considerable part of the investigation has already been conducted, and the existing investigation team will continue to handle the case."
Kim Soo-hyun's side has consistently maintained a hard-line position amid legal battles with the late Kim Sae-ron's bereaved family, saying, "The essence of the case lies in distorted claims." Last month, lawyer Ko Sang-rok also argued, "They damaged the honor of an innocent victim with false materials and manipulated voice files," calling it "a personality assassination on an international scale."
Currently, Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron's bereaved family have filed cross-complaints, and the two sides' claims are locked in a standoff. Kim Soo-hyun's side is pursuing defamation and damages lawsuits, and the case is being handled by an investigation team at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul.<
