Actor Seo Beom-jun has risen to "ending fairy" status with an even more evolved display of "jealousy Hwashin" in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Would You Merry Me, foreshadowing a "eye of the storm" performance.
Seo Beom-jun appears in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Would You Merry Me (directed by Song Hyun-wook and Hwang In-hyuk, written by Lee Ha-na) as (former) Kim Woo-joo, an ideal son who graduated from a prestigious university's mathematics department and got a job at a financial company, combining neat looks and polished speaking skills. The (former) Kim Woo-joo Seo Beom-jun plays ends up dating the older Yoomeri (Jung So-min) by chance and even becomes engaged, but when his ideal type Jenny (Lee Soo-min) appears he cheats and is dumped. Eventually abandoned by Jenny as well, he tries to return to Yoomeri and displays the ultimate patheticness, but upon seeing Kim Woo-joo (Choi Woo-shik) next to Yoomeri he is consumed by jealousy.
Meanwhile, Seo Beom-jun is fully unleashing the true nature of the subleading man who explosively displays the "firepower of patheticness" in Would You Merry Me. In particular, in episode 8 aired on the 1st, (former) Kim Woo-joo (played by Seo Beom-jun), who was hospitalized after a scuffle with Yoomeri, showed discomfort when he saw a warm photo of Yoomeri and Kim Woo-joo sent by his sister Kim Jin-hwa (Moon Seung-yu). (Former) Kim Woo-joo, thinking that Kim Woo-joo, the client team leader, used his superior position to call Yoomeri, planned to bring a written complaint he had prepared and expressed resolute determination.
On the day of his discharge, (former) Kim Woo-joo, who went to Myeongsun-dang holding the written complaint, showed a grim face and declared, "I'll cut you off," projecting a solemn aura, but he was chased out by security guards. Moreover, (former) Kim Woo-joo, who tried to sneak into the building with a ferocious look, overheard that Kim Woo-joo might become the successor of Myeongsun-dang and was shocked.
Afterwards, (former) Kim Woo-joo moved to a coin karaoke and, while looking through articles related to Myeongsun-dang, lost the will to fight when he learned his rival was the fourth-generation of Myeongsun-dang. (Former) Kim Woo-joo, who helplessly tore up the written complaint into pieces, cried out, "It's pointless..." and scattered the pieces, then performed a heartrending rendition of "Like I've Been Shot" with a desperate wail, displaying a bittersweet charm. Later, having quit his job and become unemployed, (former) Kim Woo-joo learned from YouTube that the market price of Botte Felice, where Yoomeri had been with Kim Woo-joo, was at least 5 billion won, and he made a forlorn face that added to the poignancy.
However, while submitting a hospital bill diagnosis to the insurer, (former) Kim Woo-joo realized that changing the beneficiary of the insurance Yoomeri had taken out required a marriage certificate bearing the divorce date, so he went to Yoomeri's house at night. Then (former) Kim Woo-joo coldly delivered a decisive line to Yoomeri, who loudly threatened to report him to the police as a stalker: "I think I'm the one who should file the report. Was it fun until now? The fake newlywed life," casting a cold expression and raising an ominous atmosphere.
Seo Beom-jun shines with a character impact that sticks in the mind through his role as (former) Kim Woo-joo, called "pretty trash," in Would You Merry Me. From the very early episodes, Seo Beom-jun enhanced immersion by delicately portraying (former) Kim Woo-joo's emotional shifts—from likeable shamelessness and the cute traits of a younger man to anger, frustration, and sudden reversals. Seo Beom-jun also depicted the transformation from pitifulness to chilling darkening with a charm that draws you in.
