Actor Doh Kyung Soo spoke about his impressions after taking on his first villain role.
On the morning of the 3rd in the Grand Ballroom of Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, a production press conference was held for the new Disney+ original series "The Manipulated," where actors Ji Chang Wook, Doh Kyung Soo, Kim Jong Soo, Jo Yoon Soo, Lee Kwang Soo and director Park Shin Woo attended and discussed various aspects of the work.
"The Manipulated" is an action drama in which Tae Joong (played by Ji Chang Wook), who lived an ordinary life, one day is wrongly embroiled in a heinous crime and sent to prison, and then learns that everything was planned by Yohan (played by Doh Kyung Soo), prompting him to carry out his revenge.
In the story, Doh Kyung Soo takes on his first villain role, playing An Yohan, a sculptor who is the CEO of a special security service business for the top 1% and who designs the crimes.
Doh Kyung Soo said, "When I received the script I found it very interesting, and there is a big scene involving car racing, so I was curious how that scene would be realized," and "Since this is my first time playing a villain, I wondered what it would feel like when I acted."
He went on to describe the character Yohan, saying, "His real job is a sculptor. He is literally an evil person who designs and sculpts incidents," and "I thought a lot about how to make Yohan look chilling. I dyed my hair, permed it, and dyed it black again. It took more than four hours to do my hair. I spoke a lot with the wardrobe team and wore many neat and flashy suits. In terms of how to portray the character Yohan, I couldn't directly experience it, so I imagined the thoughts of people I had seen in films and documentaries over the years."
Meanwhile, "The Manipulated," completed with the writing of Oh Sang Ho, the writer of the "Taxi Driver" series, features the intense clash between Ji Chang Wook, who races hotly toward revenge, and Doh Kyung Soo, who shows a new face in his first villain role; the synergy of fresh actors such as Kim Jong Soo, Jo Yoon Soo and Lee Kwang Soo; and will release four episodes on Disney+ on the 5th, then two episodes each week thereafter, for a total of 12 episodes.
