JYP Entertainment's head and co-chairperson of The Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange, Park Jin-Young, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Park Jin-Young posted on his social media on the 2nd, "I was truly happy to meet and speak with President Xi Jinping. I sincerely thank him for listening and for his kind words," along with a photo.
The publicly released photo shows that on the 1st, Park Jin-Young, who attended the Korea-China state dinner as co-chairperson of The Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange under President Lee Jae-myung, was pictured speaking with President Lee and President Xi, drawing attention.
Park Jin-Young added, "I hope that through popular culture the people of the two countries can become even closer and that we can have more conversations.♡"
Earlier, Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Kim Young-bae said on social media, "While President Lee Jae-myung, President Xi Jinping and Park Jin-Young, chairperson of the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange, were briefly conversing, President Xi responded to a proposal to hold a large-scale performance in Beijing and called in Wang Yi, the minister of foreign affairs, to give instructions. I expect this could be the moment when the door opens for a full-scale entry of 'K-culture' beyond lifting the ban," raising expectations about the lifting of the ban on Korean cultural content.
However, The Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange said, "The conversation between President Xi Jinping and Chairperson Park should be understood as customary pleasantries exchanged while greeting one another at an official diplomatic event," adding, "It is cautious and premature to overinterpret this. However, given that the atmosphere of friendly cooperation between the two countries has risen through this Korea-China summit, we expect more active cultural exchanges to take place in the future."
