Comedian the late Park Ji-sun has been gone from our lives for five years already.
Today (the 2nd) marks the fifth anniversary of the late Park Ji-sun. Park Ji-sun died on Nov. 2, 2020.
At the time, the late Park Ji-sun was found dead at her home in Mapo District, Seoul, together with her mother, shocking the public. Police considered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, but, "there were no signs of external intrusion and a note resembling a will was found, so it appears there is no suspicion of a crime. Out of respect for the family's wishes, we decided not to perform an autopsy," they said.
The sudden tragic news shocked the entertainment industry, and fans were plunged into deep sorrow. The late Park Ji-sun had been loved for her bright and cheerful image, which made it all the more so. In particular, the late Park Ji-sun ended her life with her mother just one day before her birthday, adding to the public's sadness.
Three days later, at the funeral on Nov. 5, comedians Yoo Jae-suk, Kim Shin-young, Ahn Young-mi, Heo Min, Kim Young-chul, Lee Guk-ju, Kim Min-kyung, Park Sung-kwang, Cho Sae-ho, Ji Seok-jin, Im Ha-ryong, actor Park Jung-min, SHINee's Key, Park Bo-young, Lee Yoon-ji and Girls' Generation's Seohyun attended and saw the deceased off in tears.
Those who loved the late Park Ji-sun still remembered and reminisced about her. Every year on her birthday they released messages of celebration and remembrance, and singer Ali and actor Lee Yoon-ji expressed their longing by celebrating her birthday in advance.
This year, Lee Yoon-ji visited the late Park Ji-sun's columbarium with Ali on Oct. 30. Lee Yoon-ji said, "A rushed autumn picnic after getting the kids ready for school this morning. I packed an apple left from the kids' breakfast, some leftover snacks, the barley tea I brewed this morning and spread out the mat. Yes. Today is picnic day, after all," and added, "Today the path to you felt unfamiliar so I stood looking around for a long time. I wondered how you went down a road you had never taken, and my heart felt like it swallowed salty water. It's autumn. Soon the leaves will change color," expressing her longing.
Ali also wrote, "Thanks to you in the flower field, we came out for a picnic. Today I only received from friends and came back. Thank you for listening. Today I especially missed your cute, feisty front tooth."
The late Park Ji-sun, who debuted in 2007 as a comedian in KBS's 22nd open audition class, became known through segments on Gag Concert such as Bongsoonga Academy, Solo Heaven Couple Hell, Geugo-ga Geuk, Teacher Kim Bong-tu, Comedy Actresses, I Respect You and Like Family.
She won the 2007 KBS Entertainment Awards comedy division female rookie award, the 2008 KBS Entertainment Awards comedy division female excellence award, and the 2010 KBS Entertainment Awards comedy division female top prize, and she was also active as an MC for radio guest spots, variety panels, press conferences and showcases.
