YTN anchor Kim Sun-young opened up about her feelings after seeing off her husband, lawyer Baek Seong-mun.
Kim Sun-young said on the 1st via her husband Baek Seong-mun's account, "I am Baek Seong-mun's wife, YTN anchor Kim Sun-young. My husband, Baek Seong-mun, who approached me with a kind, gentle smile, has passed away."
She recalled, "My husband was diagnosed last summer with a rare cancer called sinonasal cancer and underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, fighting the illness fiercely for about a year, but in the end he could not stop the malignancy from spreading rapidly. Even during the difficult treatment he never once frowned; he was a gentle, kind person who, even in pain that prevented him from swallowing a single sip of water, would make sure his wife had meals."
She continued, "Until the end he burned with the will to return to broadcasting, and to protect his wife he endured everything, even losing sight in one eye during chemotherapy and walking barefoot as part of his efforts. But our desperate prayer as a couple to spend more time together was not answered," she said, revealing her painful feelings.
Kim Sun-young said, "My husband, who endured so bravely, went to heaven with a peaceful expression as if he were sleeping. He always jokingly called me 'Mrs. Kim.' Before he took his last breath I leaned close and told him, 'Mrs. Kim will hold on and get by, so don't worry, go to a place where you are no longer in pain.'"
She also said, "My husband left these words last June: 'Thank you for sharing the most brilliant time of my life with me.' As I send him off... I pray sincerely that in heaven he spends even more brilliant times and is always smiling with that expression."
Finally, she added, "Our promise to return to Paris, where we took our honeymoon, on our 10th wedding anniversary could not be fulfilled. I will substitute with the photo of Paris my husband liked most while alive."
Meanwhile, lawyer Baek Seong-mun passed away at 2:08 a.m. on the 31st of last month at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital. The wake was set up at Asan Medical Center funeral hall, and family members including his wife, anchor Kim Sun-young, are serving as bereaved family to receive visitors.

my husband approached me,
lawyer Baek Seong-mun
has passed away.
My husband last summer,
was diagnosed with
a rare cancer called sinonasal cancer
and received surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy
fighting fiercely for about a year,
but despite fighting the illness,
in the end the rapidly spreading
malignancy could not be stopped.
Even during the difficult treatment
he never once frowned;
he was a gentle, kind person,
who in pain that prevented him

still made sure his wife had meals.
He was a caring husband.
Until the end
he was determined
to return to broadcasting,
and to protect his wife
even when he lost sight in one eye during chemotherapy
he even walked barefoot
and did his utmost to endure.
But our longing
to spend more time
together as a couple
was not answered.
So very grateful,
my husband who endured so well
went with
a peaceful expression
as if sleeping to heaven.
My husband always
jokingly called me "Mrs. Kim"
he used to call me.
Before my husband took his last breath
I spoke into his ear.
"Mrs. Kim, I will hold on and get by,
so don't worry,
go to a place where you are no longer in pain."
Last June my husband
left these words:
