Actor Lee Yi-kyung continues broadcasting activities without impact after the private life controversy.
On the 1st, a spokesperson for the ENA and SBS Plus variety show I'm SOLO told OSEN, "Today (the 1st) the I'm SOLO recording took place. Lee Yi-kyung also attended as an MC as before," issuing an official statement.
Lee Yi-kyung is active as one of three MCs on I'm SOLO alongside rapper Defconn and model Song Hae-na. In particular, this occasion drew attention as Lee Yi-kyung's first studio recording since he recently endured an embarrassing private life controversy.
Earlier, Lee Yi-kyung was swept up in allegations of private life exposure, accused by an overseas internet user A of exchanging obscene conversations via social media. In A's initial exposé, A claimed that Lee Yi-kyung even mentioned sexual crimes and said A revealed the private life to disclose the truth.
Afterward, Lee Yi-kyung's agency Sangyoung ENT said it had previously faced similar threats and even received an apology for false information, and nonetheless declared a strong legal response to the incident. In response, A apologized, saying the disclosed content had been manipulated by AI, and deleted the related posts.
As a result, the related controversy had been settled as a hiccup. Nevertheless, reports emerged suggesting that the recent two-week suspension of recordings for the MBC variety show Hangout With Yoo, on which Lee Yi-kyung is a regular, and today's (the 1st) broadcast cancellation were aftereffects of his private life controversy, continuing suspicions. However, the Hangout With Yoo cancellation was due to special news coverage related to the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) leaders' summit, and the production team drew a line, saying, "Pre-recordings were not held in preparation for this, and it is unrelated to the performer's controversy."
The I'm SOLO show in which Lee Yi-kyung appears airs every Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
