Group i-dle member Miyeon (MIYEON) paints two faces of love.
Miyeon will release her second mini album, MY, Lover, on the 3rd and begin full-fledged solo activities. It is her first new album in 3 years and 6 months since her first mini album, MY, released in 2022, and includes seven tracks in total, including the title track Say My Name and the pre-release song Reno (Feat. Colde).
Miyeon attempted a shocking transformation in the previously released pre-release song Reno (Feat. Colde). It depicts the process of love turning into obsession and ending in catastrophe, presenting music different from her past songs, which centered on lively and beautiful melodies. In particular, she showed growth as a solo artist through a composition that unusually begins with a narration in the intro and gradually becomes more intense.
In the music video, she worked with Cha Woo-min to create dramatic direction that is visually like a noir film. In the video, Miyeon struck a partially shown hand in a car trunk with a hammer, raised a severed hand with an expressionless face, and hugged a coffin, conveying a chilling atmosphere. She also heightened immersion with acting that alternated between an innocent smile and an expressionless face.
The first teaser video of the music video for Say My Name, set to be released, previewed another side of Miyeon's sensibility. Miyeon drew attention with a sensuous direction showing a lonely, forlorn expression followed by dancing alone in a room. The song partially revealed in the audio snippet added delicate piano melodies, rhythmic beats and Miyeon's explosive vocal power, evoking autumnal sentiment.
Following the intense and experimental Reno (Feat. Colde), Miyeon conveys the temperatures and emotions of love that swing between extremes through the more sentimental Say My Name. In other tracks on the album that explore the theme of love, listeners can find music only Miyeon can deliver. Building on the musical world she established from her first mini album, Miyeon plans to create a narrative of love that transcends genre boundaries in the new album.
