'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' Kim Jae-joong learned his mother's secret kimchi recipe.
On the 31st broadcast of KBS 2TV entertainment program 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' (hereafter "Fun-Staurant"), Kim Jae-joong was shown learning his mother's kimchi.
Previously, during the "mother's hands special" broadcast, Kim Jae-joong's mother attracted attention by revealing various recipes and reportedly repaying 100 million won in debt within a year while running a restaurant in Gongju that earned 40 million won in monthly sales.
That day, Kim Jae-joong's mother worried about her son, who leads a busy life with performances and overseas schedules. The mother said, "When I see you perform, it looks like you collapse. It's the same overseas and at concerts, it's so pitiful," and added, "Sometimes I cry a lot. I'm worried whether you're eating," expressing her affection.
Above all, the mother said, "I'll make kimchi for you today, so take a jar to Japan too," and Kim Jae-joong smiled at the thought of tasting his mother's kimchi and said, "I'm going to learn how to make my mother's kimchi."
The mother drew attention by revealing the kimchi recipe, another hit menu of the "100 million won jackpot" restaurant. First, she made a broth by adding various ingredients including onion skins, garlic skins, green onion roots, anchovies and mature pumpkin. In response, Lee Young-bok said, "You really make the broth properly," expressing admiration.
When making the kimchi filling, she blended garlic, onion and ginger with anchovy fish sauce, and Kim Jae-joong said, "I also learned for the first time that my mother doesn't use any salt when making kimchi. She seasons it only with fish sauce," explaining and surprising everyone.
Lee Yeon-bok said, "It's a recipe we haven't seen in everyday life," and Hyojung reacted, "It's like seeing the wisdom of living."
The kimchi was completed with the mother's tips. When Kim Jae-joong said, "It's delicious. But it keeps lingering in my mouth," the mother jokingly said, "Mansunyi still hasn't died. Let's export this to Japan."
Then Kim Jae-joong responded, "We should open a kimchi factory," and Kangnam chimed in, "Jae-joong hyung can do it."
Meanwhile, Kim Jae-joong prepared a filial meal using lotus leaves for his parents. Starting with lotus-leaf nutritious rice, he quickly completed duck boiled meat and mustard sauce, and Kangnam lamented with a laugh at his filial actions, saying, "I really hope my mother doesn't see this today. She'll say something today."
