Actress Jang Hye-jin revealed an unusual connection with director Bong Joon-ho.
On the 1st episode of MBC's Omniscient Interfering View (hereafter Omniscient Interfering View), Roy Kim and Jang Hye-jin appeared as guests.
Jang Hye-jin said, "After I graduated from school I didn't act for nine years. There were many people who did well. I felt I had no talent for acting. I worked at a mart and department store," saying she went into making a living after graduating from university.
Jang Hye-jin said that after she stopped acting she once received a love call from director Bong Joon-ho. Jang Hye-jin said, "When I was working at the department store Director Bong Joon-ho's offer came. He said he was preparing Memories of Murder. He seemed to have been impressed by my graduation profile photo."
She continued, "At the time I wasn't acting, so I said I had stopped acting. He said, 'Start acting again, and if I succeed with this work let's meet again,'" saying she refused Director Bong Joon-ho's offer at the time. Eventually Jang Hye-jin and Director Bong Joon-ho met through Parasite.<
