"Fortunately, there was no bad situation." After a cryptic social media post and then losing contact that sparked concern, actor Jang Dong-ju's whereabouts have been confirmed, bringing relief.
On the 31st, a representative of the agency Nexus E&M told OSEN, "Actor Jang Dong-ju's whereabouts have been confirmed," issuing an official statement.
Earlier that day at about 11:30 a.m., Jang Dong-ju left only the cryptic one-word message "I'm sorry" on his personal social media and then lost contact with those around him, raising concern. The post contained only a brief greeting and an undecorated black image, heightening worries among those around him.
Just the day before, on the 30th, Jang Dong-ju had posted a photo taken with fellow actor Lee Joo-an and cheerfully shared an update saying "with 'Pok-sye' Gong-gil." Faced with the sudden change in tone in just one day, acquaintances, fans and internet users flocked to Jang Dong-ju's social media to ask how he was and left supportive comments.
Jang Dong-ju had already completed filming for SBS's new drama "From Today I Am Human," which is set to air in 2026. The production company and broadcaster also asked the agency about Jang Dong-ju's situation. Nexus E&M said, "We are currently confirming his whereabouts," withholding further comment, but from the moment they saw the social media post they quickly tried to contact Jang Dong-ju and set out to confirm his whereabouts.
In the meantime, it was reported that Jang Dong-ju contacted his parents the day before saying, "I will go home tomorrow (the 31st)." Public concern continued for Jang Dong-ju, who had left only a social media post and then lost contact. Half a day later, the agency confirmed his whereabouts.
According to the agency, Jang Dong-ju was fortunately safe that afternoon. A representative for Jang Dong-ju emphasized, "Fortunately, there was no bad situation," and breathed a sigh of relief. They added, "We are sorry for causing concern."
However, caution and concern remain regarding the cryptic social media post. According to multiple entertainment industry sources, it appears that, fortunately, Jang Dong-ju was not involved in any specific incident or accident. The agency also said it is maintaining communication with the actor and closely monitoring the situation. Nexus E&M cautiously withheld further details, saying, "At this time, there is nothing we can share in detail."
Born in 1994, Jang Dong-ju debuted in 2012 in the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Five years after his debut, in 2017, he began appearing regularly on screen through the drama "School 2017." Since then, he has appeared in dramas such as "Criminal Minds" and "Mr. Temporary," as well as in films including "Honest Candidate."
Known as a dependable young man, he was praised in 2021 for witnessing a drunk-driving hit-and-run and personally detaining the perpetrator, earning him praise as a good deed. His recent work is the Netflix series "Trigger," and his next project is "From Today I Am Human," scheduled to air on SBS next year.
