The group DKZ offers six musical flavors.
DKZ (Sehyun, Mingyu, Jaechan, Jonghyung, Giseok) will release their third mini album TASTY at 6 p.m. today (31st) on various music sites.
TASTY is DKZ's new album presented about 1 year and 6 months after their previous release, containing songs of various genres to deliver "delicious" music with added listening fun.
The following is a Q&A with DKZ ahead of the release of their third mini album TASTY.
Q. You are releasing your third mini album TASTY about 1 year and 6 months after the second mini album REBOOT. How does it feel to make a comeback?
Sehyun: I'm truly happy to greet everyone with a good album after 1 year and 6 months, and I'm equally nervous. This album features styles DKZ is trying for the first time, so I'm curious about the reaction and whether it will reach ARI and the general public well. We practiced even harder with the belief that people will surely like it.
Mingyu: It's really enjoyable to be on stage with the members again after a long time, and we prepared with excited hearts. Above all, I'm happiest and most pleased that we can finally meet ARI in person.
Giseok: I'm very excited for the comeback after a long time. Since it's a concept we haven't done before, I'm also nervous in a way. Thanks to the support fans send, we practiced with strength.
Q. Could you briefly introduce the third mini album TASTY and recommend what taste each of the included songs would correspond to?
Jonghyung: In one word, TASTY feels like a tasting corner. We concentrated DKZ's various colors into one album so listeners can enjoy multiple flavors.
The title track Replay My Anthem is like a whipped cream waffle with apple jam. It's sweet yet charming, a flavor that keeps coming back to mind. Next, Appetite is like a cracker: it whets the appetite so the rest of the album can be enjoyed more deliciously. Love Game tastes like bungeoppang. On a nose-chilling winter day, you can feel a warm, sweet sentiment like a cozy bungeoppang.
Best Friend evokes lemonade. Just as drinking it brings a fresh, cool feeling, it contains a refreshing charm. Kick Down has a mala flavor. It is the most intense and stimulating charm among the songs DKZ has presented. Finally, Eyes on You is like an americano drunk in midwinter. It's certainly crisp but carries an addictive charm and an aftertaste that's hard to break away from.
Q. What are the listening points of the title track Replay My Anthem, and are there lyrics or performances that make you want to replay it?
Mingyu: The chorus choreography is especially addictive. The moves using finger, shoulder, and chest rolling are impressive and I think they will reach viewers with strong addictiveness.
Jaechan: The attractive falsetto is a listening point. The performance centers on a sexy yet delicate wave that enhances the song's atmosphere.
Jonghyung: I think it's each member's vocal tone. Every member practiced a lot to find the tone that suits the song best to maximize its charm. The intense yet subtle performance contains an addictiveness that makes you want to replay it repeatedly.
Q. You showcased different charms with three concept photos—Zero, Invitation, Snare. Through TASTY you attempted a bold transformation not only musically but visually as well. Could you explain what efforts you made specifically?
Sehyun: I tried bleaching my hair for the first time since debut, and that in itself feels like a bold transformation. All members worked out hard to show a more mature coolness. When recording the title track, I paid special attention to vocal tone and used breath more boldly than usual to bring out the song's charm.
Giseok: While preparing this album, to show new charms we did a lot of monitoring as well as practice. I kept filming myself to look for another side of me and made a lot of effort.
Q. Please say a word to the fans who have waited a long time for DKZ's comeback.
Sehyun: ARI, I sincerely thank you for quietly staying by our side for a long time and I am always moved. We know well that the love and passion you send us are by no means to be taken for granted. We have grown a lot over 1 year and 6 months and will repay you with more memories and better feelings. Thank you for always being our strength. Because of ARI, and thanks to ARI, we can keep making music and performing on stage. I am truly grateful and I love you.
Mingyu: Thank you for waiting for such a long time. We will show fans many good sides accordingly. I hope this promotion is also full of happiness and great memories together.
Jaechan: I sincerely thank ARI who waited for us for a long time. Thanks to fans' unwavering support, we were able to be together. We prepared this album with the desire to repay that wait, so please enjoy it and let's continue to make many great memories together.
Jonghyung: Thanks to the love ARI sends, we were able to prepare this album more vigorously. I want to meet more often going forward and fill our time together with happy moments. ARI who give DKZ boundless love, I always wish you happiness.
