(Following interview ①) Xikers revealed behind-the-scenes details of the filming of the "Superpower" music video.
Recently, Xikers (xikers/Minjae, Junmin, Sumin, Jinsik, Hyunwoo, Junghun, Se-eun, Yejun, Hunter, Yechan) sat for a comeback interview at a café in Yongsan District, Seoul, ahead of the release of their sixth mini-album House of Tricky: Wrecking the House.
House of Tricky: Wrecking the House is the finale that concludes the "House of Tricky" universe Xikers have continued since their debut for two years and seven months. It depicts the process of the 10 Xikers, who became blue flames, tearing down the "Tricky House" and venturing out into the world. The title track is "Superpower (SUPERPOWER) (Peak)," a song expressing their will to break limits with Xikers' unique energy, unconstrained by existing frames.
The "Superpower" music video features various computer-generated images reminiscent of superheroes. When asked about behind-the-scenes details of the shoot, Se-eun said, "There are many amazing scenes in the music video. Many scenes were filmed against chroma key this time as well. So you have to immerse yourself when acting, but because the scenes weren't actually drawn out, there were moments of disconnection, though we immersed ourselves as much as possible while filming," and added, "When the final product came out matching what we imagined, I felt very proud."
Sumin continued, "In my part there was a scene where I grabbed a superpower energy drink can that had become very small with chopsticks. It was so hard to catch at first. In the end, there's a behind-the-scenes detail that we glued it with a glue gun," she explained.
Hunter said, "We're famous as a group that brings rain. While filming the music video, we were shooting a synchronized dance scene when it started raining, so we rested and then resumed. Eventually the rain poured so hard that we had to wait until dawn that day before resuming filming," recounting how the rain extended the shoot.
Yechan said, "It kept getting delayed and delayed until we postponed it to the next day," and added, "Whenever we go to an event, even if rain is not forecast, it rains when we arrive. Not long ago at a café event, it hadn't rained, but when we arrived it started. Then once we went inside and began the event, the rain stopped. We bring rain to that extent," sharing the surprising experience.
Minjae said, "We once went to Yeosu for an event. Many artists attended for an omnibus performance. It was outdoors and the sky was just cloudy, so we thought, 'Will it really rain?' and 'If it does, it'll be awkward,' but it didn't. We thought, 'Thank goodness,' and were looking forward to an enjoyable stage, but when the MC introduced us as 'Xikers!' and we went up, suddenly a downpour came. There is a video of us performing through that downpour that became legendary among fans," and he said with a laugh, "On the contrary, doing it like that felt romantic and fun. It felt like a scene from a youth drama. Fortunately, those moments have become pleasant memories now."
Hyunwoo added, "After our stage that day ended, the rain tapered off. I wondered a lot, 'Was it really because of us?'" Expressing the members' grievances, when asked who among them brings rain the most, Yechan said, "We haven't figured it out yet. When the 10 of us come together it seems to create a synergy," sharing the surprising phenomenon and drawing laughter.
