Actor Kim Beom-rae returns to musical theater.
Kim Beom-rae will join the musical "Sugar," scheduled to be performed on Dec. 12 at the KEPCO Art Center Grand Theater. It is his return to musicals after a year since last year's musical Bloody Love.
The musical "Sugar," which raises expectations for the performances of veteran Kim Beom-rae, is based on the classic comedy film Some Like It Hot, beloved worldwide. Set in the Prohibition era of 1929, it cheerfully depicts the hilarious mishaps that occur when two jazz musicians, who accidentally witness a gangland murder, disguise themselves as women and join a female band to save their lives.
Kim Beom-rae plays the role of Jerry, a pure and quirky bassist. After accidentally witnessing a crime scene with his colleague Joe, he transforms into a woman named Daphne to avoid threats and lives as a member of the band.
In a video released yesterday (the 30th), Kim Beom-rae showcased an alluring dance line and charismatic gaze, heightening anticipation for "Sugar," which is preparing for its premiere. In the profile photos for "Sugar" released on the 27th (Monday), he captured attention with the contrasting images of a dignified Jerry and the bewitching cross-dressing Daphne.
Regarding the musical "Sugar," Kim Beom-rae said, "I have thought of it as a well-made classic film, and I am excited to participate in this work as the domestic premiere," adding, "I am happy to be doing a pleasant work after a long time. I will try to convey happiness and good feelings to the audience."
The musical "Sugar," featuring Kim Beom-rae, opens on Dec. 12.
