Singer Soyou said she received an apology from the airline regarding her post alleging racial discrimination aboard a Delta Air Lines flight, and she vowed to take a tough stance against rumors.
On the 31st, Soyou posted a long message on her personal account saying, "I am writing this post to accurately organize and share the details because false information and rumors related to the events that occurred on the return flight after last week's schedule are still being indiscriminately spread."
That day Soyou said, "After worrying about the series of incidents that continued throughout the flight, before landing I wrote down the discomforts and submitted them through a flight attendant. And this week I received an apology by email from Delta Air Lines."
She added, "I thank those who empathized with what I experienced over the past week and the feelings I must have felt at the time and who were worried for me, and I apologize for causing concern with a personal matter. Thanks to those who supported the brave post I wrote, I was able to return to my daily life," expressing gratitude.
Soyou said, "But false information and rumors are still being indiscriminately spread to the extent that I have to write another post to correct the facts," and "I received an official apology for the matters that were problematic, so I will not mention this further through public channels."
She went on to say, "However, I will respond firmly and take legal action against baseless speculation, the spread of unverified false information and insulting expressions that infringe on personal rights," adding, "I am sorry to write again with successive unpleasant news, but I will correct the matters that need to be corrected."
Finally, Soyou said, "Once again, I apologize for causing concern with a personal matter, and I will come back with pleasant news in the future."
Earlier, Soyou posted that she received racially discriminatory treatment aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from New York to Korea and could not eat anything for 15 hours.
Later, a claim appeared in a comment on a social media post that Soyou was heavily intoxicated on the plane, and Soyou herself refuted it, saying, "Before boarding I consumed a small amount of alcohol served with food in the lounge, but I completed boarding without any sanctions or problems during the boarding process."
The following is Soyou's full post
Hello. This is Soyou.
I am writing this because false information and rumors related to the events that occurred on the return flight after last week's schedule are still being indiscriminately spread, and I want to accurately organize and share the details.
After worrying about the series of incidents that continued throughout the flight, before landing I wrote down the discomforts and submitted them through a flight attendant. And this week I received an apology by email from Delta Air Lines.
I thank those who empathized with what I experienced over the past week and the feelings I must have felt at the time and who were worried for me, and I apologize for causing concern with a personal matter. Thanks to those who supported the brave post I wrote, I was able to return to my daily life.
However, false information and rumors are still being indiscriminately spread to the extent that I have to write another post to correct the facts.
I received an official apology for the matters that were problematic, so I will not mention this further through public channels. However, I will respond firmly and take legal action against baseless speculation, the spread of unverified false information and insulting expressions that infringe on personal rights.
I am sorry to write again with successive unpleasant news, but I will correct the matters that need to be corrected.
Once again, I apologize for causing concern with a personal matter, and I will come back with pleasant news in the future.<
